SCB Steelers’ Training Camp Blurbs Day Two

by Steeldad

There’s a very old saying in the game football that pertains to all levels of the game. “Wait until they put the pads on.” I remind you because by now you’ve probably seen one superlative after another about how awesome this guy or that guy looked. You can certainly see a lot from guys despite their lack of pads but all of that goes away when the guys strap it up.

That moment is coming but until then, this is what has gone on so far in Training Camp 2016.

-Le’Veon Bell got plenty of action and that won’t surprise any of us despite coming off the knee injury. I’m guessing Bell will see more action this preseason than most are thinking.

-One of the hottest names from day one is Anthony Chickillo. The second year player has for the second straight year completely overhauled his body. He looked very good and very quick.

-Not surprisingly Rob Golden was running with the first team on defense and on special teams. The thought that rookie Sean Davis will step right into the starting safety spot is a bit premature.

-Much like he did when Brett Keisel retired, Ben Roethlisberger wore the jersey of yet another retired Steeler. Today he came out to the afternoon practice wearing the number 83 of Heath Miller.

-Steelers GM Kevin Colbert reiterated what he had said earlier… He expects Antonio Brown to honor his contract. I’m on record as saying if they were ever going to re-do a player before one year remained on his deal then this would be the time. I do however respect the Steelers’ way of doing things. Hard for me to argue with that.

-David DeCastro answered questions about his contract situation on Thursday and didn’t say a lot as expected. I will be stunned if he doesn’t have a new deal by the start of the regular season.

burfict fanLastly, you may have seen pictures of the guy at Steelers Camp yesterday wearing the Vontaze Burfict jersey. Ballsy? Stupid? I don’t care what you call it because I view it as yet another example of a Bengals’ fan desperately trying to make a rivalry out of one that doesn’t exist. Pathetic.
