Not surprisingly, the Pittsburgh Steelers spend significantly more on their defense than they do on their offense. Each year theguardian.com puts out a really well-done breakdown of how salaries are dispersed.
You’ll notice the big numbers are at quarterback, wide receiver and tight end on offense and while the linebackers and defensive backs have the lion’s share on defense.
The offensive salaries rank 25th in the NFL at $48 million while the defense ranks third with a total salary of $62.7 million.
In case you were curious, the highest paid defense is Cincinnati at $63.3 million and the highest paid offense is Philadelphia at $73.3 million.
Of the 12 playoff teams from last year, seven spent more money on offense than they did on defense.
