SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Doghouse” Edition

by Steeldad

Good Thursday to you Steelers’ Fans!

We have our answer as to why Eli Rogers didn’t see so much as a snap on Sunday against the Patriots. Rogers was late to the team’s walk-thru on Saturday and this was not the first time he had been late or missed a team activity. Thus he was in the doghouse of one Mr. Mike Tomlin. Rogers needs to change his attitude post haste. With the emergence of Cobi Hamilton, there is suddenly a lack of room in the wide receivers house. Rogers can’t afford to make these kind of mistkes.

The Steelers are now off for several days before returning to practice next week. Ben Roethlisberger participated in individual drills and reportedly looked good. Ladarius Green had another positive day of practice as well. If, and this is a big ‘if,’ he is assigned to the active roster, who gets released? I think the Steelers like Xavier Grimble too much to let him loose so it could very well be a guy on the defensive side of the ball.

Make sure you READ Ben’s article on Mike Tomlin and the road game issues. Don’t read the title and make a judgement.

No ‘nail the number’ this week but rest assured it will return!!

My biggest question moving into next week will be what Keith Butler does with the defense. After being gashed by the run in two consecutive weeks, will the status quo continue or will he start bringing more guys on the blitz? Something to look for…

Tweet of the Day… Good to hear from Coach Fichtner.

Check this out! You can win a trip to Super Bowl LI courtesy of Antonio Brown.

If I chose an MVP of this team through the first seven games, Jordan Berry would be in my top five. Yes, the punter has been that good at flipping field position.

Cam Heyward didn’t go through team activities yesterday but he was active and doing quite a bit of running. Good sign for a team desperate for his services.

As many of you know, the newspaper industry is dying. Therefore some news journalists have taken to some radical ideas and Ron Cook at the Post-Gazette is no exception. He offered up the question of whether the Steelers should have kept LeGarrette Blount over Le’Veon Bell. I honestly don’t have the energy to discuss this any further.

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
