SCB Steelers Quick Hitters: The ‘Khan Man’ Edition

Good Friday to you Steelers fans.

There are plenty of people on this planet who can talk and talk and talk some more but they never really say anything of substance. There are also people who use very little in the way of words yet they speak volumes. Being an NFL General Manager, one must be able to master a little of both and current Pittsburgh Steelers’ GM Omar Khan is getting there. In just his second time in front of reporters at the NFL Combine, Khan used everything he learned from his predecessor Kevin Colbert. In his classic Western Pennsylvania accent, Colbert could spin yards and yards of yarn into a majestic tapestry of nothingness. Khan is developing this skill. While many took some of Khan’s comments to their enigma machines in order to decipher what bits of information Khan was really saying, the truth is that there was very little of that. Khan became the third of the ‘Big 3’ (Art Rooney II and Mike Tomlin) to state how much they’d like Mason Rudolph to return. He also said that Kenny Pickett was QB1 right now too and he stated quite clearly that Broderick Jones was drafted to play left tackle which was great to hear. When asked about Justin Fields or free agents or prospects, Khan chose his words carefully and offered nothing that would create any sort of buzz. He did just as Colbert had done in terms of giving information, answering the question and pretty much saying nothing at all. This is how the game is played my friends.

Never Too Early

With legal sports gambling becoming more and more available across the US, some folks often forget that a great time to get in on some NFL wagering is actually in the offseason. A great way to do this is by using the Betway app. From the Draft to NFL futures, there’s plenty of action to be had.

The Podcast

We had a tremendous show last night that dove really deep into some of the key roster decisions the Steelers have… we discussed the NFLPA survey and why it matters… We touched on the Combine a bit and of course the QB situation too. Check it out! Episode 358 of the SCB Steelers Podcast presented by DEK Roofing Inc!

Combine Thoughts

It never ceases to amaze me. Men who are over 300lbs just should not be running 40 times under 5.0 but they are and they are killing it in drills too. Guys like Kris Jenkins, Chop Robinson and Braden Fiske were unbelievable yesterday… The Steelers did speak with four wideouts so far. Washington’s Jalen McMillan, Texas WR AD Mitchell, Michigan’s Roman Wilson and Oregon WR Troy Franklin… The defensive backs are in action on the field at Lucas Oil Stadium today and I expect more wicked 40 times. Bigger than that though is the fact that the Steelers need DB help big time so I’ll be watching closely. Tight ends are also in action and while I don’t think one will be drafted by the Steelers it wouldn’t shock me either.
