Good Thursday to you Steelers fans.
Inside an NFL locker room there are certain things that you can pick up on rather quickly. The media, while going to the star players is always a first option, typically go to the offensive and defensive linemen. Why? Because they tend to give the most honest answers and most well-educated opinions. Defensive backs are an intriguing group simply because of their nature to demand the spotlight. Make good plays, get camera time. Linebackers are all over the place in terms of their overall disposition and the QBs/RBs generally don’t want to say much as they know anything taken the wrong way leads them to getting hit more often than normal and that’s not good. But then there are those wide receivers. There’s just something a little off center about this group. If any fan base knows wide receivers in recent years it is this one. So last night I must tell you I wasn’t the least bit surprised when Chase Claypool had his receiving teammates doing some “bonding” if you will. 
Claypool had his TikTok account up and running live and for the record, that is indeed a snake in the box. We believe it to be a non-venomous Ball Python but I must say it’s good to see the wide receiver room up to its usual zaniness.

Injury Report
Ben Roethlisberger had the day off yesterday which is normal and so did JuJu Smith-Schuster. Both of these were “coaches decisions.” Robert Spillane (shin) and Carlos Davis (knee) were both limited participants.
Special Teams Thoughts
What a game of extremes it was for Danny Smith’s Special Teams’ units in Buffalo. They open the game by giving up a 75 yard return. On Pressley Harvin’s first career punt a defender came right through the middle and nearly blocked it. But then of course you had the blocked punt by Miles Killebrew and the subsequent return for TD by Ulysees Gilbert. Chris Boswell did what he usually does and the rest was history. As the season progresses however the Steelers have to tidy things up and they largely did on all of the kick opportunities that followed the first one. We shouldn’t come to expect blocked kicks or punts in every game but we should see consistent improvement.
Dominance
Went back yesterday and reviewed the game and I can’t get over how good 32-year old Cam Heyward was. Josh Allen will be having nightmares of a freight train coming at him wearing a 97 jersey all season long. But there’s also the other things, the little things that Heyward does. His pursuit of a scrambling Josh Allen forced a fumble that for whatever reason was not called perhaps because Allen fell on it but either way it was a classic example of how dominant of a player Heyward can be.
