Hey Steelers Fans. Welcome to Friday
The Kickoff
The Pittsburgh Steelers have shown some ‘significant’ interest in a number of safeties during the pre-draft process and I find this a bit intriguing. Mike Tomlin and Omar Khan have attended the Pro Days of Lathan Ransom (Ohio State), Andrew Mukuba (Texas), Xavier Watts (Notre Dame) and Malaki Starks (Georgia). They also had DBs Coach Gerald Alexander spend over thirty minutes of individual time with Nick Emmanwori (South Carolina) Jaylen Reed (Penn State) had a formal interview at the Combine. I’m not naive here; Tomlin is ALWAYS at the Pro Days for Ohio State, Georgia and Texas so they may be little to glean from this. That said, I find it curious. Is Minkah Fitzpatrick on the trade block? Are they just doing their “due diligence?” I’m not making any predictions but something seems afoot in my opinion.

My Latest Mock Draft
I typically do three mock drafts in the lead up to the NFL Draft and this week version 2.0 dropped. I messed around with some ‘trade down’ options and found one I really liked. The final version will be coming a day or so before the Draft. Check it out!
Pickens
Much like the speculation I suggested with Minkah Fitzpatrick above, I believe the possibility of dealing George Pickens is even greater. So let’s discuss this. If Pickens plays this year and then leaves in free agency, the Steelers will likely get a third round compensatory pick. That pick however would be for the 2027 Draft. Could the Steelers possibly try to keep Pickens? I never say “never” but it would be INCREDIBLY out of character for them to pay big money for two receivers. Therefore, I have to believe that Omar Khan will shop Pickens prior to or even during the Draft. If anyone offers a second rounder – especially for this year – I believe he will take it and run. The question will be what happens if someone offers a 2026 second rounder? Given that the Steelers are loading up on comp picks (currently projected to have four) I think he would probably take it. Much of this is speculation, I know, but it sure seems like something will go down with him.
Random Reads
I finally finished the first three season ‘Daredevil.’ Now I’m starting ‘The Punisher’ before moving on to ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’ They are entertaining and that’s all that matters… The Dan Patrick Show was asking this morning, “What fan base has no sense of humor about itself?” There are plenty of options but probably the Dallas Cowboys… I see the NFL is permitting teams to wear throwback uniforms up to four times this coming season. It’s all about pushing merchandise… As for the Titans wearing the old Oilers uniforms? I hate that. Those unis belong to the city of Houston… Don’t ask me about the Final Four. I have no clue… Iowa State CB Darien Porter just looks like a Steeler. He’s long, fast and aggressive. I’m curious to see where he goes. Have a great weekend everyone!
