Join My Crusade Against the Color Rush Uniforms for the Steelers

That’s it. I’ve had enough.

There is a war going on in this country and I’m ready to jump on my steed and lead the armies of common sense into battle. I’m tired of the National Football League constantly messing with tradition all in the name of marketing and making more gosh darned money!

Thursday night the NFL pitted the New York Jets and the Buffalo Bills against each either. Rather than the traditional “one team in dark color jersey and the other in white” the teams both worse solid colors from top to bottom. The Jets wore all green and the Bills wore all red. But these just weren’t any old ‘greens and reds.’

These were brighter and shinier than the normal uniforms. The green wasn’t just “green,” it was REALLY Green! The red wasn’t just “red,” it was REALLY red!!

It looked as though the red Christmas ornaments were attacking the green Christmas ornaments from one side of the Christmas tree to the other. To make matters worse, the NFL in all its’ “genius” forgot that color blindness is actually a real thing. The majority of those with color blindness struggle the most with green and red. I had one person tell me it was like watching a prison break during a 1940’s movie. They couldn’t tell who was who.

But the NFL isn’t done with just last night. Oh no, I found out today that all 32 teams will be wearing these abominations at some point in 2016. Excuse me while I puke on my keyboard…

See, you have to understand something. I’m just now, in 2015, starting to come out of my fetal position after the Steelers made the change from block numerals to these “more modern ones” back in the 1990’s. I like tradition!

I like the block numerals on black jerseys and on white jerseys and I like the gold pants with black stripe. I’ll even go so far as to welcome back the white pants with the black stripes from the early 1970’s. But no more of this “color rush” crap! Not for me and most certainly not for my Steelers.

I realize I’m fighting a losing battle here but I’m not giving in. Oh yes, millions of young and a few old Steelers’ fans will drop down big money for our version of the ‘color rush’ jersey regardless of whether it’s a shiny black or a metallic gold or a brilliant white. You’re all weak and pathetic in my book! Have some pride for crying out loud and stand with me to stop this assault on our tradition and our wallets!
