Last week we debuted the WPIAL Blitz show with Ian and Bruce from Small Player Big Play. The WPIAL Blitz Show will be available for FREE all season on YouTube and through the Small Player Big Play App, which provides schools and youth sports organizations the opportunity to fundraise by live-streaming their games and events. Check out their Twitter page and get the app for free on Apple or Andriod devices.
This week, we were honored to have Avella Eagles head coach Ryan Cecchini stop by and discuss his program’s great start to the season. Avella is 3-0 and is coming off a win over defending Tri-County South conference champion West Greene. Avella made national news back in 2008 when members of the band and a cheerleader stepped in to fill roster spots so that the team, shorthanded by injuries, could finish the season and not have to forfeit games.
Topics covered on this week’s show include:
- Interview with Coach Cecchini (follow him on Twitter @RyanCecchini)
- Recap of Week 3 games
- Preview of the biggest scheduled games for Week 4
- PIAA’s state tournament decision and how it impacts WPIAL teams and the playoffs
Mentioned on the show was Sto-Rox’s amazing comeback against Shady Side Academy. The Vikings got the ball with just under 2 minutes remaining down by 6 points with 92 yards to go. Check out The Drive:
