With two weeks left in the WPIAL regular season, playoff races are in full swing. So far, 32 of the 67 playoff spots have been clinched. Additionally, two teams (Franklin Regional and Sto-Rox) locked up conference titles last week. You can check out our WPIAL Standings Page for a look at the current standings and tiebreakers. Heading into the penultimate week of the regular season, here is a rundown of the playoff clinching scenarios around the WPIAL. (Special shout-out to my guy Steve for helping work through these!)

6A Playoff Scenarios

Qualification: The top 4 of the 5 6A teams will qualify for the playoffs.

Tri-County Five Conference

North Allegheny has clinched a playoff spot.

• North Allegheny plays a non-conference game but clinches the Conference Title if Central Catholic beats Seneca Valley.
• The winner of Seneca Valley-Central Catholic will clinch a playoff spot.
• Mt. Lebanon plays a non-conference game, but will clinch a playoff spot if Seneca Valley beats Central Catholic.

5A Playoff Scenarios

Qualification: 8 teams qualify for the playoffs. The top two teams from each conference will qualify along with two of the three third place teams as wild cards.

Allegheny Six Conference

• Bethel Park clinches a playoff spot with a win over South Fayette

Big East Conference

• Franklin Regional has clinched the conference title
• Gateway has clinched a playoff spot

Northeast Conference

• No clinching scenarios

4A Playoff Scenarios

Qualification: 13 teams will make the playoffs. Four teams qualify from the Big Seven Conference and Greater Allegheny Conference. Five teams qualify from the Parkway Conference.

Big Seven Conference

McKeesport has clinched a playoff spot

• McKeesport clinches the conference title with a win over Latrobe AND a Thomas Jefferson loss
• Thomas Jefferson clinches a playoff spot with a win over Connellsville
• Laurel Highlands clinches a playoff spot with a win over Ringgold OR a Connellsville loss
• Latrobe clinches a playoff spot with a win over McKeesport OR a Connellsville loss

Greater Allegheny Conference

Armstrong and Highlands have clinched playoff spots

• The winner of Armstrong-Highlands wins the Conference Title
• Mars clinches a playoff spot with a win over Hampton
• North Catholic clinches a playoff spot with a win over Indiana AND a Hampton loss to Mars

Parkway Conference

Aliquippa, Central Valley, West Allegheny, and Montour have clinched playoff spots

• Blackhawk clinches a playoff spot with a win over Montour OR losses by both Chartiers Valley and New Castle

3A Playoff Scenarios

Qualification: 12 teams will make the playoffs. The top four from each conference qualify.

Allegheny Six Conference

Freeport and Shady Side Academy have clinched a playoff spots

• Freeport clinches the Conference Title with a win over Valley AND a Deer Lakes loss
• East Allegheny clinches a playoff spot with a win over Knoch
• Deer Lakes clinches a playoff spot with a win over Shady Side Academy OR if Knoch loses to East Allegheny

Interstate Conference

Elizabeth Forward and Belle Vernon have both clinched playoff spots.

• Southmoreland clinches a playoff spot with a win over Belle Vernon OR if Mt. Pleasant beats South Allegheny
• Mt. Pleasant clinches a playoff spot with a win over South Allegheny

Western Hills Conference

Avonworth has clinched a playoff spot

• Avonworth clinches the Conference Title with a win over Seton LaSalle
• West Mifflin clinches a playoff spot with a win over Hopewell

2A Playoff Scenarios

Qualification: 14 teams will make the playoffs. Five teams from the Allegheny and Midwestern Conference will qualify. Four teams from the Century Conference will qualify.

Allegheny Conference

Steel Valley and Serra Catholic have clinched playoff spots

• Ligonier Valley clinches a playoff spot with a win over Imani Christian

Century Conference

Sto-Rox has clinched the conference title
Washington and McGuffey have clinched playoff spots

• Keystone Oaks clinches a playoff spot with a win over Washington OR a Brentwood loss

Midwestern Conference

Beaver Falls, Neshannock, and Western Beaver have clinched playoff spots

• Beaver Falls clinches the Conference Title with a win over Freedom and a Western Beaver loss to Mohawk
• Mohawk clinches a playoff spot with a win over Western Beaver OR if Ellwood City loses to Neshannock
• Riverside clinches a playoff spot with a win over New Brighton AND if Ellwood City loses to Neshannock

1A Playoff Scenarios

Qualification: 16 teams qualify for the playoffs. The top four from each conference will qualify.

Big Seven Conference

Laurel, Union, and South Side Beaver have clinched playoff spots

• Laurel clinches the Conference Title with a win over Summit Academy
• Rochester clinches a playoff spot with a win over Northgate

Black Hills Conference

Bishop Canevin and Burgettstown have clinched playoff spots

• Bishop Canevin clinches the Conference Title with a win over OLSH
• OLSH clinches a playoff spot with a win over Bishop Canevin OR if Cornell loses to Chartiers-Houston
• Fort Cherry clinches a playoff spot with a win over Carlynton AND an OLSH win over Bishop Canevin

Eastern Conference

GCC, Leechburg, and Clairton have clinched playoff spots

• Jeannette clinches a playoff spot with a win over Frazier

Tri-County South Conference

Mapletown has clinched a playoff spot

• Mapletown wins the Conference Title with a win over Monessen
• Monessen clinches a playoff spot with a win over Mapletown
• California clinches a playoff spot with a win over Beth-Center
• Carmichaels clinches a playoff spot with a win over Bentworth AND a Jefferson-Morgan loss to West Greene
