For as long as Twitter, currently known as ‘X’ has been around, you’d think people would learn that just because you post it, doesn’t make it so. But alas, they have not. As we enter yet another day of yearning for Brandon Aiyuk to come to Pittsburgh, there are other things to discuss.

Tomlin Talks

Here are some observations from Mike Tomlin’s presser this morning.

-Likes how Mason McCormick has not shrunk from the challenge. Acknowledges jump from FCS.

-Broderick Jones will likely see time at both tackle spots Friday night.

-Specifically cites work of Van Jefferson and Scotty Miller as veteran receivers who have done good things.

-Tomlin smiles when he’s told that Justin Fields said this Camp is the toughest he’s ever been in.

-Players believe Camp has been more intense than usual.

-Praises Dan Moore’s professionalism.

-More use of fullback is reflective of Arthur Smith’s offense more than anything else.

-Tomlin says what players do “in stadium” is more important than what they do on the practice field. In other words, he puts more into preseason games.

Depth Chart Thoughts

Regardless of how Beanie Bishop, Jr got there, he’s currently the first guy in the slot. Grayland Arnold has played well but also has had some injuries. Cam Sutton is suspended for the first eight games too but Bishop has played well and is deserving of the opportunity.

I saw an article this week talking about QB John Rhys Plumlee and his athleticism and strong chances of making the roster. Where do people come up with this stuff? He’s the fourth QB and he’s struggled at fielding punts. He’s headed to the Practice Squad at best.

With Keannu Benton listed as the first team nose tackle and Montravius Adams behind him, that means Breiden Fehoko is third. He’s not going to offer anything on Special Teams so barring injury to those top two guys I can’t see Fehoko making the roster.

Despite his injury, Roman Wilson is listed just behind Calvin Austin III in the slot. Look for Scotty Miller to get a lot of time there Friday night.

Connor Heyward is listed as the starting Fullback with Jack Colletto behind him. I’m really curious to see how Arthur Smith uses Heyward. Obviously, everything we see will be extremely basic and vanilla but we know Colletto has been used almost exclusively as a traditional FB while Heyward has been all over the formation during his time in Pittsburgh.
