SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Watt Time is It?” Edition

Good Tuesday to You Steelers’ Fans!

So far in his career T.J. Watt reminds me of the streaky shooter in the NBA. When he’s hot, he’s 100% unstoppable. When he’s not, the effort is there but the shots (or in this case the sacks) aren’t. I choose to look at this positively for a couple of reasons. First, sacking the quarterback on a routine basis is not easy. Think about how many times the the best pass rushers ever have rushed a QB only to come up empty. Therefore we shouldn’t expect sacks every single week from Watt. Secondly, I really believe this kid is still growing into himself and he hasn’t yet touched the surface of just how great he can be. His overall amount of pass rush moves is not many but will get better. A lot of what he is accomplishing is based on pure will and strength/speed. Would I like to see more game-to-game consistency? I think we all would but let’s also give Watt some time too. For right now I’m more than thrilled with what I’m seeing.

Mike Tomlin Press Conference coming today at Noon and I expect there to be questions about Le’Veon Bell and the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles were rumored to have been one of the teams that have had conversations with the Steelers about Bell and that will only increase now with Jay Ajayi out for the season.

Tweet of the Day… Kudos to you Maurkice.

There’s a story in the post-gazette today about how Bell and James Conner could team up to become the best running back duo in the league. Clearly someone isn’t paying attention to how Mike Tomlin uses running backs. While his confidence in Conner has grown tenfold, Tomlin likes to use one featured back and spell that back only when absolutely necessary. I wrote last night about how important Stevan Ridley getting 12 offensive snaps was Sunday for James Conner. If the writer is envisioning the days of Rocky Bleier and Franco Harris then they haven’t been paying attention.

It was reported yesterday that Mike Tomlin could be facing a fine for his comments regarding the officiating Sunday. First of all, if they fine him then in my book they are admitting he’s right. Secondly, I’d be more than happy to make a donation to help pay his fine because Tomlin is 100% correct. These calls are getting guys fired and making other guys lose their jobs.

Numerous outlets are reporting that Antonio Brown is facing a lawsuit. Does it ever end?

Have a great day Steeler Nation!

The coaching staff did their job it was the best game of the season. But you know me i’m a bit picky. Two areas that need attention are, Tuitt to me appears to be out of shape. The Steelers are putting out way too much money out for this. Secondly [ and this is nit picking] Ben is still out of sorts some what. He’s forcing it to brown and it’s hurting the team to a certain extent. I know he’s above all that, but when i saw M. Thomas has a 90% + catch rate. Well it makes A.B’s 50% look pretty sad. Here’s the bright side if we can string a few wins together we are in great shape.
