SCB Steelers Quick Hitters: The “Tomlin Tuesday” Edition

Good Tuesday to you Steelers’ fans.

We have reached a point in our country where it’s very difficult for people to see both sides of a situation. It’s as if being able to admit rights and wrongs makes us somehow less of a person. Therefore we take one position and stick with it regardless of how we really feel. I said after week three of this season that it was time to part ways with Mike Tomlin and I’m not sure I’m really moved off of that position at this time. But what I can say is that Tomlin has done a hell of a job with this team considering that awful start and loss of his future Hall of Fame Quarterback in week two. The fact that I was able to admit this does not make me less of a person or someone unable to hold an opinion and stick to it. I built this site on the idea that we call it like it is and that’s exactly what I’m doing. For all of the warts he has had in his 12 plus seasons, I don’t have any problem saying something positive about Tomlin. It’s no different than giving praise one week and criticism the next about the performance of a player. Getting this team to where it currently is doesn’t erase past failures or mistakes but it does show growth. Which is exactly what it takes to admit to both sides of a particular viewpoint.

Tweet of the Day… I can only speak for myself here Vince but we all have bad days at the office. You have 16 such days guaranteed to you each year which makes the margin of error significant. You also do your job in front of millions of people unlike most of us. One thing I can tell you is that I’ve never seen you play without effort. Sure, I’ve seen some missed tackles and getting beat in coverage but that happens to every defender. You’ll never hear me question your effort and I respect that a great deal.

A Typical Tuesday

The second day of the work week is more of the same for the Steelers as Mike Tomlin is scheduled to give his weekly press conference at Noon Eastern. Today is also officially the players’ day off but that doesn’t mean you won’t hear of guys doing things in the community or coming by the facility for medical attention or just simply to get in some more work in preparation for the Cardinals.

Hello? JuJu?

Steelers’ wide out JuJu Smith-Schuster was cleared in concussion protocol last week prior to the Browns’ game yet still missed it due to a knee problem. I’m told he is in a much better position to play this week but nothing is certain as of this writing. With the emergence of James Washington in recent weeks, there might not be a better time than the present for JuJu’s return. Let’s face it; he has struggled this year even when healthy. But if Washington keeps making plays that should loosen up the coverage a bit on JuJu which can only benefit this offense.

Pouncey Returns

Maurkice Pouncey has been removed from the Commissioner’s exempt list and will be available to the Steelers this Sunday. Pouncey of course was suspended for his role in the Myles Garrett incident in Cleveland. B.J. Finney played much better on Sunday at center than he had the week before in Cincinnati. Welcome back Maurkice!

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
