SCB Steelers Quick Hitters: The “To Sit or Not to Sit” Edition

by Steeldad

Good Tuesday to you Steelers fans.

One of the hotter topics on Steelers’ social media the last 36 hours has been who to sit and who not to sit in the season finale at Cleveland. As always, the major topic of of this conversation is Ben Roethlisberger. To make this as simple as possible, you have to sit him. I know, I know, but then he’ll be “rusty.” He’s always rusty after he misses a game. There’s certainly evidence to support this but let me put it this way. If he plays on Sunday and gets hurt, what odds do you give us in the first round playoff game? Are they as good as if he sits Sunday and is a bit rusty to start out? With no real BYE week Mike Tomlin has to give some of his players time off. It’s really the only choice here and I understand the other side of it but this game means nothing and Tomlin has to prepare for the postseason. His team is as mentally drained as it is physically so sitting the key players is the right move.

Tomlin Tuesday

Head Coach Mike Tomlin will give his weekly presser today at Noon. We should expect updates on injuries and of course who may play and who won’t. The players are off on this day too.

Tweet of the Day… LOL

All About Fun

Like you, I was astounded by the unexpected comeback on Sunday. Also like you, I wondered where in the hell it came from. The team was so dead and so listless… The season seemed over… But what we’ve discovered is that the Steelers just needed to have some fun. That was the chatter that came from the postgame locker room and it all started when Big Ben gathered the offense at halftime. It’s actually a good life lesson especially in these times. We can’t forget to have fun no matter what the situation.

Slow Down Huh?

Last I checked, we are still in the regular season of the 2020 NFL season. Already however I’m seeing articles from respected writers about the Steelers in 2021. OK, I get it, there’s a lot to unpack because of Ben Roethlisberger’s $41 million cap hit, the likely dropping of the salary cap and so many free agent decisions. Can we please just get through the current season though? I know writers often want to get ahead of everyone else with certain topics but I’ll worry about 2021 when the 2020 season is over. Sheesh.
