SCB Steelers Quick Hitters: The “Super Bowl Cheering Guide” Edition

Good Monday to you Steelers fans.

The 56th version of the Super Bowl is now set and it will be the Cincinnati Bengals taking on the Los Angeles Rams from SoFi Stadium in LA. This marks the second straight year a team will play in its home stadium on the game’s biggest stage. At this point, I take more interest in the commercials than I do the game because neither of these teams do much for me. The Rams are the NFL’s version of an NBA Super Team and the Bengals are, well…. The Bengals. I will say this however, Cincinnati winning would make Cleveland the only team in the AFC North not to have a Lombardi Trophy and I find that humorous. I have tremendous respect for what the Bengals have been able to do. This team is two years removed from having the worst record in the NFL. They kicked our ass twice this season and have been competitive in games they’ve lost. It’s OK everyone to say “Kudos Bengals” while at the same time still hating their guts. It’s what we do in the AFC North.

Our Great New Tee from DC4L

steelcityblitz.comI’m a quarterbacks guy, always have been. It’s what I played and its what I spend the most amount of time studying. Therefore it’s no surprise that my two favorite Steelers are Ben Roethlisberger and Terry Bradshaw. The crew at DC4L Custom Tees threw this together for me and it’s now available in our store for you to purchase. Several colors and plenty of sizes!

Tweet of the Day… Too damn funny.

ARII Has Spoken

Nothing really surprising from Steelers Team President Art Rooney II. He confirmed what Mike Tomlin alluded to that Matt Canada will be back… Said that Kevin Colbert will retire after the Draft and that both Omar Khan and Brandon hunt have been interviewed as in-house candidates. ARII said he expects to name the successor after the Draft… He admitted he doesn’t know the future for Stephon Tuitt. There are claims he doesn’t want to play football anymore… He also reiterated Tomlin’s comments about a “mobile QB.” Again, this doesn’t mean Lamar Jackson. It means a guy who can make necessary plays when flushed from the pocket… He also mentioned they had interviewed three candidates for the defensive coordinator position but I still believe Teryl Austin will be the guy.

Highsmith vs Ingram

With Melvin Ingram making a coupe of nice plays yesterday it of course led to the inevitable slew of comments that the Steelers screwed up by trading him. No, they didn’t. Highsmith was a better overall player and Ingram flat-out didn’t want to be in Pittsburgh. Kudos to him for his playoff ride with the Chiefs but keeping him was not a better move. I agree with Tomlin on this one. Better to have volunteers than hostages.
