SCB Steelers Quick Hitters: The “O-Line Uh-Oh” Edition

Good Friday to you Steelers’ Fans.

There has been some shuffling along the Steelers’ offensive line this week in preparation for what could happen. Ramon Foster remains in concussion protocol which means that B.J. Finney would slide into left guard as he did last week with success. No problem right? Well… The Trib’s Joe Rutter reports Matt Feiler has taken snaps at left guard this week because Finney may be needed at center. Maurkice Pouncey is dealing with a calf issue but is expected to play at the time of this writing. Finney therefore would slide over to center, Feiler to left guard and then Chuks Okorafor would get a helmet and start at right tackle. This is not a situation that warms my heart to be very honest with you. Okorafor has not developed as the Steelers hoped he would. He had a very poor preseason and was even bumped from the ‘extra tackle’ role now filled by Zach Banner. Finney at center is decent but he’s not nearly as effective as he is at guard. Feiler should be OK as guard is much more of a natural position for him anyway. To suggest that I’m worried about this with a guy named Aaron Donald across the line of scrimmage would be a serious understatement.

The Shopping Season in Apparently Here So…

Despite my best efforts to try and enjoy the approaching Thanksgiving holiday and put the Christmas shopping stuff on the back burner but it’s like fighting with your wife. You may be right but you’re never going to win. That said, please consider grabbing one of the shirts from our online store. Many very cool designs and colors available! You can get $10 off your first order right now.

Tweet of the Day… Normally everything he tweets is wrong but not in this case.

From the Training Table

STEELERS

RB James Conner (Shoulder) – DNP
OL Ramon Foster (Concussion) – DNP
WR Ryan Switzer (Back) – Full
RB Benny Snell Jr. (Knee) – DNP
RB Trey Edmunds (Ribs) – DNP
FB Roosevelt Nix (Knee) – DNP
LB Mark Barron (NIR) – Full
TE Vance McDonald (NIR) – Full
OL Maurkice Pouncey (NIR) – Full
DE Tyson Alualu (Knee) – DNP

RAMS

WR Brandin Cooks (Concussion) – DNP
LB Bryce Hager (Shoulder) – DNP
DT Tanzel Smart (Illness) – Full
RB Malcolm Brown (Ankle) – Full
LB Clay Matthews (Jaw) – Full
OL Andrew Whitworth (NIR) – Full
WR JoJo Natson (Illness) – DNP

NOTES… The alarming name here is Tyson Alualu. If he suddenly can’t play on Sunday then that severely weakens an already thin defensive line for Pittsburgh… I think we may get our first extended look at running back at Tony Brooks-James. Trey Edmunds has yet to practice this week and with no Benny Snell or James Conner, Jaylen Samuels will need help.

Rams-Steelers Preview

I’ll have everything you need to know for the game on Sunday in the Three-Point Stance coming tomorrow morning. Keys to the game, stats, game status reports, TV coverage and predictions.

Have a great weekend Steeler Nation!
