SCB Steelers Quick Hitters: The “Let’s Get It Right With Weddle” Edition

Good Wednesday to you Steelers’ Fans.

With Baltimore releasing safety Eric Weddle yesterday there’s been a lot of buzz about him in Steelers’ social media circles. Some suggest he’d be a good signing while others celebrated the fact he never won a postseason game in his three years in Baltimore. If you recall, Weddle said in 2016 that he “wanted to play for a contender.” When he signed with the Ravens, many in Black and Gold felt betrayed by him after a brief flirtation. Let me take this opportunity to lay out some truths. First, in 11 games prior to his signing with them, the Ravens has beaten the Steelers in 8 of those games. Secondly, they had more recently been to a Super Bowl and third they offered Weddle a better contract than did the Steelers. In other words, why wouldn’t he have gone to the Ravens? In his three seasons there they didn’t win a playoff game. But let’s not act like the Steelers accomplished a whole lot either. Zero AFC Titles and Zero Super Bowl appearances.

Now to the present… many have stated that the Ravens’ defense excelled because of the ‘quarterbacking’ of Weddle from the secondary. Could the Steelers use that? Of course they could but Weddle isn’t going to play for peanuts either. When you consider that Weddle is also 34 years old do you really believe he’d be a good option for the Steelers?

Tweet of the Day… I believe this is the first movie review I’ve seen for Captain Marvel.

We’re hearing that Jesse James’ days in Pittsburgh may indeed be numbered. He will likely get some offers that are going to be significantly above what the Steelers have planned. He’s a solid, dependable player who would be missed.

Why do I feel like Antonio Brown gets traded in the next 24 hours?

Gotta be honest here… Saw NFL Network’s Charley Casserly report some negative things he’s been told about Kyler Murray’s team interviews. I had a chance to watch a lot of his interviews during Super Bowl week and I wasn’t overly impressed. While I think some of it was just a natural shyness he seems to have, I can see why some teams would be turned off by him. This by no means should be an indicator that he can’t be a great QB in the NFL. It is what it is however.

Here’s Greg’s latest Draft Profile; WR N’Keal Harry of Arizona State.

I really should say this more often but the NFL bringing more women into the game is a good thing. From officials like Sarah Thomas and intern coaches like Jen Welter, women continue to make up a huge portion of NFL fan bases and I’m never surprised at the level of knowledge they have.

Profootballtalk.com reports that a new television deal could include the elimination of conference affiliations. Have to say that this would be weird having lived my entire life under this concept.

Have a great day Steeler Nation!

I hate to go off topic but. Bob’s post combine mock1.0 1, Devin Bush ILB 2/44 Parris Cambpell WR 2/52 Julian Love CB 3, Chase Winovich edge 4, Terry McLaurin WR 6, Corey Ballentine CB 7, Andrew Wingard s I know some of these guys will need to dropped. But the two speedsters from Ohio and the two quality corners. as well as getting a good ILB. It’s just what the doctor ordered.
