SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “It’s Schedule Week” Edition

Good Monday to you Steelers’ Fans!

Based on everything I can find, the National Football League schedule for 2017 will be released this coming Thursday evening. I fully expect both the NFL Network and ESPN to treat the unveiling as if someone had found little green men on Mars but that won’t surprise anyone. We look forward to seeing the Steelers’ schedule like everyone else regardless of how meaningless things really are right now.

Today is the public viewing for Mr. Rooney at Heinz Field. This will take place from 2pm-7pm Eastern in the Champions Club.

To this point, the Steelers have had pre-draft contact with just three running backs. Marlon Mack of South Florida and Wayne Gallman of Clemson met with Pittsburgh at the Combine while James Conner of Pitt had a private workout. I’m a little surprised there haven’t been a few more. Kareem Hunt of Toledo is a guy I thought for sure they’d have in. There’s still time I guess…

Tweet of the Day… Very cool from AB.

Interesting story about how on-field officials would like to see less strict rules against touchdown celebrations.

This is the commemorative decal for Mr. Rooney (below left) we will be making available soon. I will let you know as soon as they are done.

Congrats to the Pens last night on their overtime victory over the Blue Jackets. They lead 3-0 in the series.

Special Edition of the Steel City Blitz Podcast tonight at 10pm Eastern on Spreaker.com. We’ll get a little more in depth on quarterbacks than we did last week plus we’ll take a look at other positions as well.

You may have missed this over the last few days but the NFL’s “Officiating Czar,” Dean Blandino has resigned to take a job in television. I was not fond of Blandino. He always seemed much more interested in promoting himself than actually making officiating better. It’s no surprise he’s leaving for a job in television.

Have a great Monday (if there is such a thing) Steeler Nation!
