SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Going Scorched Earth” Edition

Good Thursday to you Steelers’ Fans!

Just when you thought it was safe to go back into regular Steelers’ news (cue Jaws’ music) several players decided to go “scorched earth” on the issue of James Harrison. The two most vocal were Maurkice Pouncey and Bud Dupree. For his part, Pouncey claims that Harrison has ruined his own legacy while forcing his way out of Pittsburgh. Dupree was asked whether Harrison mentored him or other outside linebackers and Dupree laughed boisterously as he walked away.

It didn’t end there because Dupree would go on to talk about Harrison skipping team and position meetings. There were also reports that he didn’t join the team on the field at times and in Cincinnati he left while the game while still going on. It’s quite clear that Harrison acted like a spoiled brat who didn’t get what he wanted. I’m not going to go so far as to say he “ruined his legacy” because time heals. But… he’s done himself no favors with his behavior and by signing with the Patriots he’s just about out of favor with any Steelers’ fan.

Tweet of the Day… Too funny

The injury report courtesy Steelers.com. Antonio Brown (calf) did not practice. Ramon Foster (concussion) and Coty Sensabaugh (shoulder) were full participants.

Mike Tomlin has yet to tip his hand about how long starters will play if they play at all. With a bye week already earned, I think it’s a mistake to sit key starters entirely.

Antonio Brown was named team MVP in a vote of his peers. While certainly deserving, I couldn’t help but notice Ben Roethlisberger has only won this award once in his Hall of Fame career. Interesting….

I have never been to Times Square for New Year’s Eve. In fact, I’d rather be forced to watch LaVarr Ball interviews than be in that horde of people.

Lastly, I asked a simple question on Twitter yesterday. Are you a Steelers’ fan or are you a fan of certain players? The majority of answers can be summed up with this comment. “Root for the name on the front, not the one on the back.”

I couldn’t agree more.

Have a great day Steeler Nation!

Last i checked Harrison has won 2 super bowls that’s 2 more than these guys combined. This guy wanted to play he’s the type of player that exemplifies Pittsburgh. The Steelers screwed him and he wanted out [remember everyone saying the same about L.Blount]. Sometimes you think maybe we get it wrong. Like i said i call bull$hit on the he can’t do it anymore. Here is what i say Pouncey and Dupree will never be half the man Harrison is. And for Pouncey stay away from your birthday party and watch the t-shirts you wear.
