SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Changes are Upon Us” Edition

Happy Hump Day Steeler Fans!

I have a strong feeling that the Steelers will announce any potential changes to the coaching staff today. On the firing line in my opinion are Joey Porter, Danny Smith and Carnell Lake. Stay tuned.

Cnic joined me last night on our premiere podcast using spreaker.com. Ultimately, we’ll get this thing rolling but overall it was a good first episode. We covered the Super Bowl, Justin Gilbert, Ross Cockrell, draft needs and much more. Click the player below to listen.

Agree? Disagree? Here’s one fan’s rant about his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers.

Steelers’ wide receiver Demarcus Ayers had successful groin surgery this week.

It pains me to say this but I don’t see Tom Brady retiring anytime soon.

I want to share a thought on ‘mock drafts.’ My idea of doing one of these is to act as the General Manager of the team, in our case, Kevin Colbert. I often see Steelers’ “experts” do mock drafts and then tout them as what the Steelers’ should do. What they are actually doing is picking guys THEY want rather than who they believe Colbert and the Steelers would want. When I see a Steelers’ mock draft, I want to see one where the person is acting as the Steelers, not themselves. There’s a huge difference and it makes a significant difference.

Yesterday I shared Cnic’s Mock Draft. Here is Chris Garman’s in case you missed it.

Another ICYMI is my thoughts on the Steelers’ wide receiver situation.

Not surprisingly the Pittsburgh TV market was number one overall for Super Bowl ratings. In terms of overall, the total viewership was down from past years and that seems to run parallel with the reduction in viewership this past season. Personally, I think it has more to with the decline of the game versus the election year coverage many people point to. Fans are tired of the ‘wussification’ of the game, the poor officiating and the poor leadership from Roger Goodell. Trust me, no one is losing money, but the numbers being down isn’t a surprise.

Have a great Wednesday Steeler Nation!
