SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Ben Knows How You Feel Tom” Edition

by Steeldad

Happy Hump Day Steelers’ Fans!

After the Patriots were beaten in Miami Monday night, a slow roll turned into a tidal wave of “Has Tom Brady finally reached the end?” Brady threw two interceptions and struggled with accuracy most of the night. If anyone can relate it’s Steelers’ Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. You’ll recall that even he himself questioned his ability following the loss to Jacksonville. Talking heads from ESPN to FOX seemed convinced that Big Ben was done. Our “need it now” society is in a damn hurry to bury people aren’t they? Brady hadn’t even reached the locker room last night before people were throwing dirt on his grave. While it’s true that he’s been sacked twice as often as last year, I’m in no rush to give him any motivation and you shouldn’t be either. Big Ben bounced back pretty darn well since that Jacksonville game hasn’t he? Here’s hoping Brady doesn’t do the same until next season.

We’ll be recording the Steel City Blitz Podcast Presented by 26shirts.com/Pittsburgh tonight. We’ll recap the crazy win over Baltimore and look ahead at just how the Steelers can beat the Pats.

The Steelers officially placed Ryan Shazier on Injured Reserve yesterday. This should not come as a surprise considering the injury. I do however still have a problem with those that were claiming he was “out for the year” hours after his injury. Glad you have your vindication now….

Tweet of the Day… We agree Beard!

On the injury front… I expect to see Mike Mitchell, Tyler Matakevich, Vance McDonald and Le’Veon Bell on the practice report later today. Your read that correctly, Bell. I think they’ll take it very easy with him this week after his knee got hyper-extended Sunday.

Antonio Brown is getting much-deserved attention as an MVP candidate. With Carson Wentz out for the season his chances have improved. Still a long shot however as no wide receiver has ever been the MVP.

I also expect Joe Haden to be on the report as well. But I think he practices and plays on Sunday.

Mike Tomlin said yesterday about the Patriots that “this is what we’ve been fighting for since March.” The team has certainly responded well, going 11-2 and winning the AFC North but has there been too much focus on this opponent? We’ll find out Sunday.

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
