SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “JuJu is Coming to Town” Edition

Good Thursday to you Steelers’ Fans!

You may have missed Steelers’ rookie JuJu Smith-Schuster dressed up as Santa Claus earlier this week. He was doing good stuff for local kids and it seems right now this young man can do no wrong and I love it. While he may have come to town as Santa this week I’m looking forward to him coming to town as a legitimate threat against the Patriots. Jesse James and for a short time Vance McDonald, did a superb job of working the middle of the field against Baltimore. I expect that with JJSS returning this week, he will be an extremely important part of the team’s chances at victory. Bill Belichick is notorious for taking away the offense’s best player. Whether that’s Antonio Brown or Le’Veon Bell doesn’t matter; someone else has to step up and make plays. Smith-Schuster may very well be that guy on Sunday. He’s already proven that he can work the middle against both man and zone coverage and we know how devastating of a blocker he is. I would be very surprised if JJSS doesn’t have five receptions or more on Sunday.

Latest injury news via steelers.com… Coty Sensabaugh (shoulder), Vance McDonald (shoulder), Stephon Tuitt (illness) and Martavis Bryant (not injury related) DID NOT PRACTICE. Tyler Matakevich (shoulder) and Joe Haden (fibula) were limited participants.

Tweet of the Day… I’ve never seen anyone more excited to use his snow blower.

Two things on the injury front. I’ve explained this before about Bryant. He misses practice for ‘non-injury related’ reasons several times per month. Many fans are quick to jump on him but as I’ve explained before, this is a young man who missed an entire season due to substance abuse. Where do you think he is on these days???? Secondly, Sensabaugh’s shoulder bears watching. Cam Sutton will likely get the start and the status of Joe Haden will not be known probably until game time.

ESPN had an interesting tidbit. This Sunday will be the first time ever where two quarterbacks with over 50,000 yards passing and multiple Super Bowl wins have met in a game.

Steelers’ cornerback Artie Burns claims he has CTE. I’ll just leave it at that.

A great place to get warm before (and after) the game is our Quick Hitters’ sponsor Jerome Bettis’ Grille 36. I know pregame, there’s a certain someone who does this ‘Nail the Number’ thing that will be there and I’m guessing he’ll be buying the drinks!

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
