SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Back to Normal” Edition

Good day to you Steelers’ Fans!

I hope that your Christmas was festive and filled with friends and family. Unfortunately, like our Steelers, it’s back to normal today. For the first time since their difficult loss to New Orleans the Steelers are back on the practice field. They are fully aware of what exists in front of them. A win is needed and so is help from the Cleveland Browns. Overlooking the Bengals would be a mistake. They are without Andy Dalton and A.J. Green but they’ve been competitive and will want nothing more than beating us and keeping the Steelers out of the playoffs.

Mike Tomlin mentioned three injuries of note yesterday. Vince Williams is dealing with a toe injury suffered during the game Sunday. Sean Davis has a quadriceps injury and James Conner is still trying to get over his ankle sprain. If I read Tomlin’s words and body language correctly I’d say he’s most concerned about Williams right now but that’s just me.

Tweet of the Day… If you didn’t have this coat or hat or both in the 1970’s then you weren’t a true Steelers’ fan!! LoL

I think what’s happened with the Baltimore Ravens in the second half of the season is a good example of how quickly this league can change. When the Steelers left Baltimore with victory in hand, John Harbaugh was as good as gone as their head coach. The team was actually ready to move on from him last season but gave him a reprieve. Now, Harbaugh (Who has been told he’ll be back in 2019) finds himself in the same place as he was this time last year. A home win against a division opponent is all that is needed to make the postseason. It didn’t go so well last season and we are hoping history repeats itself.

I would really like to caution everyone, myself included, about getting to caught up in what changes will be made by Art Rooney II when the season ends. Every single year there is all kinds of speculation and hyperbole that reaches epic proportions and in the end the changes are often much less than hoped for or expected. Let’s allow this final week to play out before we get ahead of ourselves.

I want to send condolences to a really good friend of SCB. Melvin Daniels was in New Orleans and at the game Sunday when he found out his grandfather had passed away. Sending our best to you and your family Melvin.

If you’re fortunate enough to still be on vacation today enjoy it Steeler Nation!!
