Merry Christmas Steelers’ Fans!
Perhaps it is a good thing that today is Christmas. There is no question that Steeler Nation needs a break from what occurred on Sunday in New Orleans. Getting over a tough loss is not easy. When you know you’ve been wronged by officials it doesn’t make it any easier either. But that’s what the team and what we have to do. There is still work to be done and the Steelers cannot afford to look past Cincinnati. They are banged up and they’re playing for nothing but knocking us out of the playoffs would be a tremendous feather in their caps.
With the guys working or deeply ensconced with Christmas activities I did a quick 15 minute podcast solo yesterday. You can check out my thoughts on the game right here. Steel City Blitz Steelers Podcast 113 presented by 26shirts.com/Pittsburgh.
Despite the holiday, it will be business as usual on the South Side. Mike Tomlin will hold his press conference today at Noon Eastern.
To no one’s surprise Ben Roethlisberger said on his show yesterday that he has every intention of playing next year but is still focused on this year. He’s playing at a high level right now and looks as healthy this late in the season as I’ve seen him in some time.
The players will enjoy the day off. Tuesday is their usual day off anyway so the Christmas holiday falls perfectly for them. That doesn’t mean guys won’t be at the facility however.
Tweet of the Day… This kid just gets it. Shame on those who continue to rip on him in an effort to create a story.
When I’m at my lowest, I’m not going to hide. I’m sorry. That loss was on me. I let everyone down, it won’t happen again. pic.twitter.com/amLOGJxino

I’m always intrigued by this question. “For those that want Mike Tomlin fired who would you bring in that’s better?” This requires a bit of a history lesson. When Bill Cowher announced he was leaving the concensus was that Offensive Line Coach Russ Grimm would get the job. But then some young, hardly known defensive coach named Mike Tomlin appeared on the scene. Tomlin made it three straight coaches hired by the Steelers who had never been head coaches. Neither Chuck Noll nor Cowher had been a head coach and neither had Tomlin. What’s my point? My point is this; while there may or may not be someone “better” than Tomlin doesn’t matter. It’s the fact that there is always someone period. My advice? Don’t worry about it right now.
I’m a bit surprised that Stephon Tuitt didn’t protest more on the crucial fourth down play that resulted in pass interference. His hand clearly makes contact with the ball altering its flight. This would have nullified the pass interference. Perhaps Tuitt did protest and I just didn’t see it.
So does TBS just hit “replay” and send everyone home for 24 hours of ‘A Christmas Story?’
My father-in-law shared some of his Remy Martin XO cognac with me last night. It was 29 years old. Talk about getting all warm and fuzzy inside!
I hope that all of you have a wonderful Christmas and that you get all of the awesome Steelers’ stuff you wanted!
