Good Friday to you Steelers’ Fans.
As we all wait with baited breath for news of Antonio Brown’s pending trade, the Steelers were instead busy focusing on a couple of the anchors of their offensive line. The team announced new deals for both Maurkice Pouncey and Ramon Foster late yesterday afternoon. I laid out some sentiments last evening on the double-announcement. In a effort to summarize, Pouncey’s three-year deal almost guarantees he will retire a Steeler. For Foster, this was unexpected. Many thought he was destined for free agency and a much bigger payday but staying in Pittsburgh certainly meant something to him.
Unfortunately the bigger news this morning revolves around Antonio Brown who apparently was in the process of being traded to Buffalo last night but told the Steelers he’d never report there. Knowing this, the Bills pulled their offer and I don’t blame them. Brown has now taken control of this situation. If he can demand where he will or where he won’t go, then he controls the proceedings, not the team. I’m all for halting trade talks now. Leave him on the roster and when he doesn’t show for mandatory team events, fine him. If he wants to retire? That’s fine too.

Tweet of the Day #2… I think Marcus Gilbert has played his last game in Black and Gold. Adam Schefter is reporting the team will try to trade him which may result in a 6th or 7th rounder at best in my opinion. Otherwise he’ll be released outright.
[NOTE] Gilbert has been traded to Arizona for a late 6th round pick.
