SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Nice to See You Again Coach” Edition

Good Day to You Steelers’ Fans!

After a nice, long break from the media Steelers’ Head Coach Mike Tomlin returns to the podium today for his Noon Eastern press conference. I would expect extremely high praise for the Jaguars (and rightfully so in some cases) and I would also expect injury updates. As you mostly know, do not expect anything of substance on Antonio Brown. We’ve been told he’s doing well and will play but it’s very hard to say just how far along that torn calf muscle is. Based on the videos he has presented, he looks pretty darn good.

Jags’ cornerback A.J. Bouye said that Ben Roethlisberger “should be careful what he wishes for.” This was in response to Roethlisberger saying of the teams the Steelers could face he wanted the Jaguars for some “redemption.” Someone is gonna come out on top here and I know who my money is on.

We’ll be recording the Steel City Blitz Podcast presented by 26shirts.com/Pittsburgh tonight. Look for it on the site and on Facebook.

Don’t know about you but Georgia linebacker Roquan Smith would look very good in Black and Gold. Chances are that he won’t be available that far down but I can dream.

Tweet of the Day… Vince was on fire during the National Championship Game last night.

Not that I’m biased or anything but why isn’t JuJu Smith-Schuster on more “Rookie of the Year” lists? I’m not saying he should win the award by any means but damn. What more did the kid have to do?

The scrambling ability of Blake Bortles has to be a concern this week. Consider that Deshone Kizer had great success running against the Steelers in week 17. The good part? That gives Keith Butler something to really use as when coaching up the D this week.

If Big Ben has to throw 55 times as he did in the first matchup with Jacksonville then I don’t feel real good about the outcome. Le’Veon Bell should be as fresh as one could be at this point in the season and I think he’s the key to this game.

Steelers’ Offensive Line Coach Mike Munchak has interviewed with the Cardinals for their head coaching position. While I do not think he’ll get it, his loss would be monstrously significant.

Have a great day Steeler Nation!

I think we have a great team, but i also feel it’s mis- managed. Someone suggested that Mike Tomlin may be the second best coach in the NFL. My question would be name a few great coaching moves he has done. And i think i made my thoughts on Haley known. Butler is slightly above average and Munchak is a top notch asst. Boswell makes Smith look like a ugly girl at 2am. My gut feeling is that we take the Jags in a nail biter. Like i said in the beginning of the year we better be preparing for N.E. . If we weren’t, then well haven’t we seen this story before. My Bobservation is this great coached teams just take it to another level in the post-season.

Bobservation??? That’s funny. I’m focused on the Jaguars and I think it’s going to be a huge storyline if we get beat Sunday. Jax has already proven they can win in Pittsburgh but… I expect an excellent performance from our well-rested team. If we don’t play well the only guy that will face the heat is Tomlin.

By huge storyline I mean the questions that will come about “looking ahead” to NE if we lose.

One more rant then i’ll give you guys a well deserved break from my B.S. The replay system needs to go back to a HARD 2 minute limit. If if takes longer than that it’s being over analyzed. Including challenges and the clock should start right away.
