SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: Who Goes Where Edition

by Steeldad

Good day Steelers’ Fans!

The job of an NFL Head Coach is a complicated one. It’s far more than just what goes on during gameday. Take for example the injury situation that Steelers’ Head Coach Mike Tomlin is currently dealing with. So messed up is the Steelers’ offensive line that on Wednesday they gave All-Pro Center Maurkice Pouncey some snaps at right tackle.

As things exist now, Marcus Gilbert is out for Sunday. His replacement Ryan Harris has a hematoma (essentially a bruise) on his leg that has been described as “bad.” If he can’t play Sunday the Steelers will be forced to go with Chris Hubbard. One possible scenario however has B.J. Finney sliding into center, Ramon Foster would return at guard and Pouncey would kick out to right tackle.

Also from yesterday… Justin Gilbert left practice with a knee injury that is not believed to be serious but may keep him out Sunday. Ryan Shazier did not practice nor did Jarvis Jones. Let’s wait and see what they do tomorrow before coming to any conclusions.

Ben Roethlisberger was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his five TD performance on Sunday night.

Week five of ‘Nail the Number‘ is active. Make sure you get your picks in by Saturday at 8pm ET.

Tweet of the Day… Despite my best efforts to tell Martavis to stay off social media….

With a number of new guys and guys in different positions along the offensive line this week, I expect Todd Haley to dial up a lot of WR screens while also trying to establish the run early.

There has already been a lot of talk about Le’Veon Bell getting a new contract even though he’s played just one game in 2016. Let’s hold off on this talk a bit. Off-field issues are one thing, staying healthy on the field are another. He needs to get through this season before we worry about a new contract.

I’ve taken full advantage of a cool new app called “Bumpers.” It allows me to make ‘mini-podcasts’ right from my phone and send them out via social media. You can check out what I’ve done so far right here.

Have a great day Steeler Nation!

I think the Steelers are in no worse shape than anybody else as far as injuries go. I can’t say this enough we are a horrible bubble screen team and it’s no coincidence that the less we run it and the power O the better we are.The key is we need to get better, not revert back to what we were doing two years. The fact is we are in good shape and everyone is shuffling players sometimes that’s how you find that hidden gem. GO STEELERS!!! P.S. I’m looking for Jesse James to have a great game.
