There are 97 days until the Steelers strap ’em on against the Patriots in the season opener on September 10th.

ICYMI the featured photo is the Steelers’ new Training Camp logo celebrating 50 years in Latrobe.

Mark Kaboly of the Tribune-Review posted a piece on Steelers’ speedster Dri Archer yesterday that discusses the young man trying to find a “home” in his second season. I will continue to say as I have since day one that Archer has never been used correctly by Todd Haley. Running him between the tackles is not the place for him. He has to get the ball in space and moving forward, not side-to-side.

Buffalo Bills’ running back LeSean McCoy said yesterday that he’s done talking about Eagles’ Head Coach Chip Kelly. That’s good but I’m still wondering why he felt the need to discuss him in the first place?

Former Dolphins’ Great Richmond Webb

Doing this now as long as I have has afforded me the opportunity to meet some great people and former players both in person and through social media. I had a chance to talk with former Miami Dolphins left tackle Richmond Webb this week. Webb was taken in the first round by the Dolphins in 1990 and immediately became Dan Marino’s back-side protector. I asked him about his memories of playing against the Steelers.

Webb called the Steelers a “first class organization” and remembered battling the likes of Greg Lloyd, Kevin Greene and Levon Kirkland. Talk about having to deal with a combination of power and speed! He also commented about the fact that he got to play in both Three Rivers Stadium as well as Heinz Field.

His other great memory of the Steelers came from none other than Mean Joe Greene. You’ll remember that Mean Joe coached with the Dolphins for awhile under Don Shula. Webb went on to recall stories Greene would tell the Dolphins’ players about the Steel Curtain and those 1970’s teams. I really appreciate Richmond taking the time to chat with me.

Former Steeler Max Starks is our Tweet of the day. Look how thin he is!

Good stuff from Neal Coolong of USA Today on Heath Miller.

The NFL announced yesterday that Yahoo! will broadcast the Bills-Jaguars game from London live on the internet. OK so maybe the Bills are a bit of a draw this year but this is the match-up they chose? Sheesh.

I’ll be absent the next few days as my daughter is having back surgery. Time to be “Dad” and not just “SteelDad.”

Go Steelers!
