SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters for 9/14/16

Happy Hump Day Steelers’ Fans!

Let me get to this nugget right away… I realize that to you, I could be just anybody recycling news like other sites but I think we do a darn good job of analyzing and giving opinions on the Steelers. This is based on the fact that my crew and are experienced when it comes to both football and the ability to know what to look for when watching film. That leads me to Pro Football Focus who routinely ‘grade’ players each week. in many instances I think they have some well-qualified folks to do such a job. However, whoever gave DeAngelo Williams a grade of “average” for his Monday night performance needs their head examined. That is all.

Nail the Number‘ Week Two is ready to go!

From everything I’m hearing Ryan Shazier should be good to go on Sunday. No visible limp of any kind reported.

Have to keep an eye on Markus Wheaton this week in practice. Obviously the Steelers managed without him on Monday night but I think Ben feels a little better, for now at least, with him on the field.

As exciting as Ben’s fourth and one TD pass to Antonio Brown was, as fans we must understand there’s a down-side. Every other receiver was WIDE open on the play for easy first downs. Had that ball been incomplete or intercepted that’s what we would be talking about today not to mention screaming about the play-call. I love the aggressiveness but there is a negative to it, remember that.

I have a feeling we are in for a very different looking Steelers’ defense on Sunday. Here are my thoughts on that.

Tweet of the Day… From our Steeler Nation South of the Border!

I would like to remind all Steelers’ fans that while the recent games with Cincinnati have been hard-hitting this is still NOT a rivalry.

Rookie Javon Hargrave was OK in his first professional game. I thought he did much better at the traditional nose tackle spot than I thought but he didn’t get pressure on the passer I thought he would either. Regardless, he’s going to be a good Steeler.

Please people, do not mistake Jesse James for Heath Miller. He isn’t in the same ball park as a blocker or receiver. Can he be? Of course, but he needs serious work on his in-line blocking before we can discuss this again.

With the Pirates sliding into oblivion, the Steelers’ home opener couldn’t be happening at a better time!

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
