Hey Steelers Fans! Welcome to Friday.
The Kickoff
Shedeur Sanders has come and gone. The Colorado QB that more and more ‘experts’ seem to think is going to drop to us at 21 visited the South Side yesterday. He claimed Mike Tomlin “resembles” his father Deion and that he had a “great visit. My feelings on drafting him have been clear. My feelings on drafting him at 21 would border somewhere on nuclear… His visit, along with that of Jaxson Dart and many other players suggest that things are starting to heat up as the Draft is now less than two weeks out. If things stay as they are – the Steelers being without a second round pick – I just can’t see us taking a QB on day one or two. There are just too many holes to fill right now.
So Much for That
Pat McAfee held a live event in Pittsburgh this week and many believed Aaron Rodgers would show up. He did not. Being that he’s a weekly guest on the show and that he’s currently flirting with the Steelers, many speculated that this would be the perfect opportunity for him to announce his intentions. No such thing happened. So the wait continues. Oh, and Joe Flacco just went to the Browns so the list of veteran QBs continues to dwindle.
The Latest Podcast
Episode 416 of the SCB Steelers Podcast presented by DEK Roofing Inc is available!!! We spent the bulk of our time on the top prospects in this draft on the offensive side of the ball. Plus we discussed where things are headed with T.J. Watt and more!
Not a Need But…
I said this last night on the show and I’ll say it again here. If there’s an athletic, pass-catching tight end that falls into our lap in this Draft I would not hate the pick. Pat Freiermuth is what he is. He’s an average blocker and above average catcher of the ball. He’s not going to make anyone miss though. Darnell Washington is a better blocker and decent receiver who probably doesn’t get enough chances. Therefore, give me an athletic guy who can line up anywhere and force defenses to account for him.

Good luck to my Western Michigan Broncos Saturday night as they take on Boston University for the NCAA Hockey Title! Proud WMU alum here… I thought Mason McCormick did a terrific job as a rookie from an FCS school filling in for James Daniels last season. That said, I’m a bit surprised they didn’t bring in more competition for him at right guard. They still could in the Draft, but this isn’t a great OL draft class… The Steelers have invested a lot of time on safeties which tells me one of two things. Either they are really set on using more three safety sets or someone is getting traded… My wife and I watched the first two seasons of “The White Lotus” and we will probably give season three a shot. Hope its worth it.
