Hey Steelers Fans. Welcome to Monday!
The Kickoff
Minkah Fitzpatrick looked like a kid in a candy store. Russell Wilson threw four TD passes and took a sack because of course he did! This… was the Pro Bowl. I’m glad there were people that enjoyed it, that’s all that really matters. It’s a chance for the players who aren’t in the Super Bowl to have some fun and enjoy some last minute comradery before heading off into the offseason. Fitzpatrick was interesting to watch because he played with freedom and an energy I haven’t seen him play with before. It’s an all-star game played in shorts, shirts and boonie hats so I’m not looking into this much. But maybe, Fitzpatrick isn’t enjoying things as much as he first did when he came to Pittsburgh. The energy he displayed on Sunday would have been awesome to see all season.
Seumalo
Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com asked Isaac Seumalo about his first Pro Bowl experience and he was rewarded with a funny reply. “I’m only here because three or four other guys couldn’t be here… I didn’t really have anything else going on,” said the Steelers guard. That really is the Pro Bowl in a nutshell. For me? I’d name an all-AFC and all-NFC team and be done with it. I am not naive however. The Pro Bowl isn’t going anywhere because it makes money. Enough said.
The Time I Spent in this Exact Position…
This kid is now blind because he sat too close to the screen. We tried to tell you.

How Much?
The Las Vegas Raiders have reached agreement with Ohio State Offensive Coordinator Chip Kelly to become their new OC. They will pay Kelly $6 million per season. Todd Monken and Mike Kafka both earned about $3 million this past season to lead the NFL. That’s a significant jump in the cost of OCs.
QB Overload
I’m going to be guilty of this so I’m getting it out of the way now. There’s going to be a lot of Quarterback discussion around the Steelers and for obvious reasons but I’m already wondering… Will they even take a QB in this draft? If I had to wager right now, I’d say they bring back Justin Fields and Kyle Allen then add an undrafted free agent rookie heading into the spring. My thoughts are likely to change on this but right now that’s where I’m at.

Can I also mention that the Pro Bowl is a form of PTSD for me? All those years of Bill Cowher having to coach it… Roger Goodell will give his ‘State of the Game’ address today. He will defend the officials, claim more the 18-game schedule is coming (which it is) and tell us we need more games overseas (which we don’t). That about sums it up… Really hard not to like TCU WR Jack Bech. One month after his brother was killed in New Orleans and he’s playing his ass off in the Senior Bowl… Keep an eye on Toledo Defensive Tackle Darius Alexander. He had a really good week at the Senior Bowl and is someone the Steelers could be very much interested in as they re-build the D-Line… No, I did not watch the Grammy Awards last night… Vince Williams has been working with the Steelers’ coaching staff and could be a potential candidate for the vacant Inside Linebackers Coach.
