I could easily turn this article into a long narrative that makes fun of our rivals in Cleveland but I’m not going to go there. What I want to tell you is that as Steelers fans, you shouldn’t take this opportunity to pile on the Browns. You should take the opportunity to be grateful that you are in fact a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
If you haven’t seen the news in the last 24 hours then you may have missed what’s been going on in Cleveland.
General Manager Ray Farmer is under investigation by the National Football League for allegedly sending text messages to coaches on the sidelines during games. If deflating balls is bad then this is likely worse.
The rumors of this indiscretion were reported during the season but now this has really picked up steam. This is likely to get Farmer suspended or see the Browns lose a draft pick.
This latest news is already on top of the fact that Johnny Manziel is in rehab and Josh Gordon is now suspended for all of next year. Pro Football Talk also reported yesterday that Browns’ free agent tight end Jordan Cameron was “eager to leave the mess in Cleveland.”
It would be very easy for me to poke fun at the Browns but I won’t. Instead I’ll choose to be thankful that my Steelers are what they are. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been more than critical of Art Rooney II, Kevin Colbert and even Mike Tomlin at times but when push comes to shove, I’m more than happy with what we have compared to what’s going on to our Northwest.
Fact of the matter is that every team in the league has their own issues whether it’s as simple as poor drafts or as horrible as players being charged with murder. No team is immune and the Steelers are not.
Still, with all the negative going on in the “Mistake by the Lake,” it’s a good time for Steelers fans to realize that we they have is pretty darn good.
