The 2022 WPIAL regular season has reached the final week. The headliner game of the week is the titanic showdown between Aliquippa and Central Valley. Aliquippa is the defending WPIAL and PIAA 4A Champions and Central Valley is the three-time defending WPIAL 3A Champions and two-time defending PIAA 3A Champions. Central Valley moved up to 4A this season and will face off with Aliquippa for the conference title. We were fortunate this week to have BOTH Aliquippa Head Coach Mike Warfield and Central Valley Head Coach Mark Lyons on the show this week. WPIAL Blitz Show Week 8 Player of the Week (Presented by Brute Athletic)
Our Player of the Week from Week 8 was Apollo-Ridge RB Nick Curci. Needing a win to stay alive in the playoff race, Apollo-Ridge upset defending WPIAL 2A Champions Serra Catholic 43-36 in overtime. Nick Curci was an absolute workhorse for the Vikings, running for 338 yards and 5 TDs, including the game-winner in overtime.
