WPIAL BLITZ SHOW 2022 Week 5 with Upper St Clair Head Coach Mike Junko

by Ian

The WPIAL football season has hit the halfway mark with 5 games down and 5 to go. Conference play continued for most sections this week and will be in full swing for all teams next week. On this week’s show, we interviewed Upper St Clair head coach Mike Junko who has the Panthers off to a 5-0 start. Upper St Clair just physically manhandled Peters Twp in a defensive slugfest to take control of the 5A Allegheny Six Conference. This week, they play a non-conference game against their archrivals Mt. Lebanon. Check out our interview with Coach Junko and the rest of this week’s show:

In a new feature, our Unit of the Week was the Sto-Rox Defense. In a 52-0 shutout victory over Keystone Oaks, Sto-Rox returned four fumbles for touchdowns. The scoring started with Ameer Hibbler recovering a fumble for a score. In the second quarter, Jaymont Green-Miller returned a fumble 74 yards to the house. The second half started like the first, the the only score in the third quarter coming on a Mekhi Upshaw 39-yard fumble return. The final score of the game was Robbie Kennedy’s 60-yard scoop-and-score.

Also congratulations to Sto-Rox QB Josh Jenkins who surpassed 4,000 career passing yards this week!
