Steelers Nation Approaches DEFCON 1 With Latest Brown Tweet

You didn’t think it would get worse did you? There was no way that after a humiliating loss, an all-pro storming out of the locker room and linebacker direct messaging insults to fans that things would actually get worse right? Think again my friends. Antonio Brown has brought the bulk of Steelers Nation to nothing short of total apocalypse with his latest tweet which came in response to former Steelers’ Public Relations’ Man Ryan Scarpino.

With a record of 0-1-1 and one superstar spending his time in clubs rather than with his teammates, this is the last thing the Steelers needed. Ryan Scarpino will actually be joining us on the Steel City Blitz Steelers Podcast tomorrow night so I’m anxious to get his thoughts on his tweet and a whole lot more.

But back to the matter at hand… I do not in any way take this to be a demand for a trade. Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown have what I call a “symbiotic relationship.” They are both better because they have each other. Would Brown have similar numbers if he were playing in just about any other city though? Probably not. Would Big Ben have similar numbers were he playing without AB? Probably not.

What I can, without hesitation tell you, is that fans are tired of this crap. It’s not funny anymore as far as I can tell. This idea of too much ‘drama’ used to get a smirk from me but now I just shake my head. The product on the field is suffering and the players are not making it any better off the field either.

Following last season, the Steelers did a bit of re-organization in terms of the locker room. Coach John Mitchell, the long-time defensive line coach, relinquished those duties to become the Assistant Head Coach. But he also took on some duties related to the locker room. He was going to clean up some of the problems that were coming from there in terms of talking too much and social media issues as well. It appears that his efforts have been fruitless.

I can’t speak for all of Steelers Nation but I can tell you flat-out that I’m tired of this. I recognize social media is part of the world we live in and I realize that top wide receivers have always been a bit on the “diva side.” But those things are just part of what is troubling this team right now. It would be nice if someone fixes them before the missiles are launched.
