Steel City Blitz Quick Hitters for August 15th, 2014

by Steeldad

-No practice today and no need for the official training camp guide either as the Steelers will officially break camp on Saturday.

-The next chance to see the Steelers in the home preseason opener Saturday night against Buffalo. Kick-off is 730pmET.

-Here are some observations from Thursday’s practice from ESPN’s Scott Brown… Darrius Heyward-Bey beats Sam Miller for a an 85-yard TD catch… Steelers’ wide receivers killing it in this drill as Antonio Brown hauls in a deep pass… Also nice catches in the drill on deep balls by Derek Moye and Martavis Bryant…

-Here are the practice observations of training camp guru @ChrisG_BR… Martavis Bryant very good tonight. Used his size. Just made a great sideline catch… AB threw some hits after a dust-up had settled down. Tomlin not happy… So this is what it looks like for DBs to make plays on the ball. #Bills… A Number 60 jersey is hanging from a camera crane… Bills DBs very physical. Steelers receivers performing very well.

-If you’re planning for Johnny Manziel to be starting the opener for Cleveland like I am then remember that the Steelers are 17-2 against rookie QBs under Dick LeBeau since 2004.

-I post Ed Bouchette’s article on Ben Roethisberger’s reaction to Emmanuel Sanders’ comments for one reason; the comments. There are some really uninformed people out there.

-Here’s the view from the Buffalo News on the joint practices.

-I want to take a minute and send best wishes to a very awesome lady over at BigBen7.com. She knows who she is!

-Video for today Swann TD Seals Super Bowl XIII.
