By now most Steelers fans are well aware of Cam Heyward’s stand against the NFL.
In a game against the Chargers, Steelers defensive end Cameron Heyward honored his late father Craig “Iron Head” Heyward, who died of cancer in 2006 by wearing eye black with “IRON HEAD” written across the strips and was fined by the NFL.
Cam decided to pay the fine and do the same Sunday against the Cardinals. Cam said that he’d continue to do so regardless of the fines saying “I don’t want to get involved in it, but it’s bigger than me. I’m not going to shy away from the fight against cancer, and I’m going to support them in any way possible.”
I think that Steeler Nation should stand up and send a message to the NFL by supporting Cam Heyward.
The Steelers hit the road this week, but the following game would be at home, it’ll be a high profile game against the undefeated Bengals, and it will be November 1st… a day after breast cancer awareness month. Let’s show the NFL that Steeler Nation supports cancer awareness more than one month out of the year, unlike the league that tells DeAngelo Williams that he’s now allowed to.
Wear your eye black November 1st at Heinz Field with Cam’s “IRON HEAD” across them!

What is Goodell doing with the fine money maybe he should be donating it to the cancer foundation that Heyward ‘s dad died from.
Actually, I believe that is exactly what happens. The money from NFL player fines go to a charity of choosing by the player fined or the NFLPA.
I am standing with Cam Hetward here in North Carolina. I am a die hard Steeler fan and member of Steeler Nation. I feel so sad that the NFL would choose to make this a reason to fine a son who loves his father. Don’t you people have a heart at all. What are you going to do with the fine money? Can you answer that? Can you look at yourselves in the mirror and not feel any compassion? Aren’t you people rich enough? Stop this maddness!
What makes the difference in him wearing them!! Then others wearing long hair, marks and stickers on Helmets for those who have passed away!! As far as I’m concerned there is know comparison to others showing their compassion for others!! At least he’s not taking drugs like others that play the game and get away with it!! THE MAN IS JUST TRYING TO SHOW RESPECT TO HIS FATHER LET HIM THE HELL ALONE!! Clean up the rest of the mess in the NFL & AFC AROUND THE WORLD AND YOU WILL HAVE ENOUGH TO DO!! Start with the FLAT FOOTBALLS FROM BRADY and keep going backwards!! FROM BIG ROG. 1-301-876-8486 THANK YOU VARY MUCH
I think that Iron Head would be very proud of his for son for standing up for what he believes in and not backing down. Cam is a great guy and proudly represents the Steelers.
Btw, Iron Head had chordoma which is a rare bone cancer with long odds. There is a small foundation that’s doing great things it looks like, started by a cancer patient: http://www.chordomafoundation.org.
Perhaps the Steelers should contribute on behalf of Cam
I stand with Cam in his fight against cancer; I lost my wife to that Beast-Cancer, so let’s rise up & fight it!!!
Well I’m a Steeler Nation alumni and been one since I was old enough to say steelers and I’m with him all the way. If I could afford to pay all his fines I would; all the way to the Superbowl. We wear black and gold and back down from no one. I don’t think the NFL knows just how big the Steeler Nation is!
[…] crew at Steel City Blitz have a “Stand with Cam” campaign going for the November 1 game against […]
Just to be clear, this campaign is not about raising money to pay his NFL fine…this is about increasing awareness for cancer research, donating if you can, and remembering the late, great, Iron Head himself.
