Senior Bowl Provides Several for Potential Targets for the Steelers

The 2016 Reese’s Senior Bowl is in the books and after a week of window shopping at practice the Pittsburgh Steelers have clearly come away from Mobile, Alabama with plenty of college prospects to continue targeting.

While nearly every position is looked at, I believe the Steelers will come away from this week with likely targets along the defensive line and in the secondary. Here are a few guys that should land on the Steelers’ prospect lists.

Two guys along the defensive line who rose above the competition were Vernon Butler of Louisiana Tech and Adolphus Washington of Ohio State. With the Steelers looking for versatility and depth along the front line, either of these guys could fit the bill. Washington has some issues in his past but that hasn’t stopped the Steelers in the past especially with former Buckeyes.

At the much needed safety position, Darian Thompson of Boise State is definitely a guy the Steelers will like. At 6’2″ and 212 lbs, Thompson is a ball hawk who also brings the wood when he tackles. His stock has soared following this week. The other safety I find intriguing is Miles Killebrew of Southern Utah. He’s a big dude at 6’3″ but I like his aggressiveness and sure-tackling. His coverage skills need work but he could be an option for the Steelers.

One guy I absolutely love on the offensive line is Michigan center Graham Glasgow. He played quite a bit of guard in the Senior Bowl after spending most of his time at center in the East-West Shrine game. He more than held his own against some solid competition and if he’s there at 25 he would be a very enticing guy because the Steelers would love his mobility at left guard and as a backup center.

I was also told that the Steelers, like every other team, loved Ohio State receiver Braxton Miller. He’s the type of player that Todd Haley typically loves and his work this past week elevated him into a top 50 pick according to most draft gurus.

As impressive as many of these seniors were, there are a boat load of really good juniors the Steelers are already looking at but nevertheless they got a nice look at some potential picks this week.
