Good Wednesday to you Steelers’ fans.
There are few things in the world as easy as what fell into the Steelers’ laps yesterday. With only three outside linebackers currently available to them, former Steeler Tuzar Skipper suddenly became available. Skipper, who was released by the New York Giants, became a fan favorite throughout the preseason as he made one play after another. The Steelers felt they needed roster space elsewhere and let Skipper go. I am in no way suggesting Skipper was the second coming of James Harrison but I was definitely in favor of him making this team ahead of other outside backers. With Anthony Chickillo away from the team while the NFL investigates his recent arrest, the team is desperate for OLB depth. At the time of this writing, Skipper is currently going through waivers and the Steelers need ten teams ahead of them to pass on Skipper. Should they get the chance and not sign him I would seriously start to question the sanity of the Steelers’ front office. He would immediately provide depth not just at OLB but on special teams as well.
Sutton Improvement
In the instant gratification world we live in it isn’t too often that we see players make steady, positive progressions. Either they are immediate contributors or they are total failures. Cam Sutton has been one of those steady risers we don’t often see. He’s consistently improved as a defensive back both on the boundary and in the slot. It’s now to the point where Sutton has gained great favor with Keith Butler and Mike Tomlin as a guy they can look to for help in the secondary.
Tweet of the Day… I like favorable stats.
Under Head Coach Mike Tomlin, the #Steelers have an 8-4 (.667) record in games following a bye week, including a 3-1 mark at @heinzfield.

Last Time We Saw Fitz-Magic
If you recall, the Steelers played in Tampa Bay in week three of 2018. The Steelers led 30-10 at half thanks to a Bud Dupree pick-six and three Ben Roethlisberger touchdowns. They would end up winning 30-27 as Ryan Fitzpatrick rallied the Bucs in the second half. The Steelers’ D gave up two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter. Fitzpatrick ended up 30 for 50 for 411 yards 3TDs and 3INTs. The Steelers have traditionally played well against Fitzpatrick who is likely to start for the Dolphins on Monday night. The other slice of good news here? Our defense is much better than it was in week three of last season.
