Happy Hump Day Steelers’ Fans!
It’s hard to believe that Ben Roethlisberger has been around as long as he has… It seems like only yesterday when he was drafted in 2004. Today we are eight days away from the NFL Draft and that number always reminds me of Tommy Maddox. It was “Tommy Gun” of course that went down with an injury early in Big Ben’s rookie season which pushed the rookie into action sooner than most expected. But prior to that, Maddox had been a highly thought of prospective coming out of UCLA but just never panned out. He then led his XFL team to the title in the league’s only season and the Steelers took a chance on him. Maddox’s biggest claim to Steelers’ fame came in the 2003 Wild-Card Game against the Browns. He rallied the team to 36-33 win after being down 17 points in the third. While his Steelers’ career won’t be remembered like so many others, Tommy Gun did author some great moments.

I’ll be posting my prediction of what the Steelers’ 2018 schedule will look like later today. Why do I do this? I honestly have no idea. I find it intriguing and I figure since we do mock drafts, why not a mock schedule? The NFL announced that the 2018 Schedule will be released on Thursday at 8pm. Here are the Steelers 2018 opponents.
Of the top four QBs in this Draft I think Josh Rosen is the most “pro ready.” But I have to be honest that Baker Mayfield is really tempting for two reasons. First, is his accuracy which was over 70% his last two seasons at Oklahoma. The other is that his teammates like playing with him and for him. That matters a lot especially in today’s game. I realize he’s had a couple of “off-field” incidents and some poor choices on it, but I don’t view him as a ‘Johnny Manziel’ at all. I’ve been wrong before though.
