SCB Steelers Quick Hitters: The “Standing Pat” Edition

Good Friday to you Steelers Fans!

There are often things that, believe it or not, that the NFL and its 32 teams can keep quiet. Even Adam Schefter doesn’t know everything. Case in point was the announcement yesterday that Cardinals’ cornerback Patrick Peterson was suspended for the first six games for PED use. For all of the talk that the Steelers May try and trade for Peterson, it is now apparent as to why they were ‘standing pat.’ The news that Peterson was suspended was news to us but not to the NFL. According to several sources Peterson and the Cards knew this was coming. Therefore it’s very likely the Steelers were aware of this as well. Don’t think however that this was the sole reason they didn’t trade for him. Age and money factored in as well. Let this be another caution sign for us. There are always things going on that few of us ever know.

Those of you who are old enough have been around for all of Ben Roethlisberger’s career know the arc it has taken. What is perhaps most troubling is that people and other sites continue to push narratives that just aren’t accurate. Pro Football Talk is trying to make it sound today like Roethlisberger is only hosting his skill position teammates in order to save face. They claim he’s trying to prove that negative comments about this offseason weren’t true. In doing this, they aren’t being honest themselves. This year is not the first time Big Ben has hosted teammates. This goes back many years and in fact, there are also times when Roethlisberger meets with receivers out west but those things don’t get reported. The reason is that they don’t fit the negative narratives the national media is trying to build. Roethlisberger does not seek attention which is why many of these gatherings go unheard of and that’s something we should get behind. Let the man do his thing.

Tweet of the Day… We agree with this sentiment.

Have you visited our official SCB Store yet? We have some really cool design and several more on the way. From the site to JuJu, Devin Bush and even more. Check it out!

Greg introduces you to Steelers’ UDFA Rookie DEB P.J. Locke.

The Steelers will go before the zoning board in Pittsburgh to seek permission to create a sign inside the lower bowl of Heinz Field. The ‘sign’ would likely read “Heinz Field” and would be similar to what you see in many European Soccer venues. I don’t really have an opinion one way or another on this to be really honest. I guess when I actually see it then perhaps I’ll have a better idea.

Have a great weekend Steeler Nation!
