Good Thursday to you Steelers fans.
You don’t read this column regularly for me to blow sunshine up your rear end when it comes to the Steelers. You’re here for honest opinions and that’s what I’m giving you here. I saw a tweet going around that showed the elation of the Steelers’ defense as Stephen Gostkowski’s game tying field goal went wide right. The caption read “Steelers celebrate being unbeaten at 6-0.” No, that’s not what they were celebrating. NFL players do not celebrate being 6-0. What T.J. Watt, Vince Williams and company were celebrating was the fact that they had survived. The overwhelming sense of relief they had as that ball sailed wide is what they were displaying. Had the Tennessee Titans been able to come all the way back it would have been a devastating blow to the defense’s ego and yeah, I realize the offense didn’t help much in the second half. But that’s what that joyous reaction was and I’d bet my life on it too.
We had another great episode of the Steel City Blitz Steelers Podcast presented by DEK Roofing Inc last night. Besides the fact I was the only one not to drop an F-Bomb, AGAIN, we covered the win over Tennessee and looked ahead to the Ravens.
Tweet of the Day… I can only imagine the fun this was.
Diontae Johnson said the receivers had some fun with Chase Claypool’s first-down signal on Malcolm Butler. Said Claypool told them they were going at it all game.

WR JuJu Smith-Schuster (Knee) – DNP
CB Mike Hilton (Shoulder) – DNP
S Jordan Dangerfield (Quadriceps) – DNP
FB Derek Watt (Hamstring) – Full
C Maurkice Pouncey (Elbow) – DNP
G David DeCastro (NIR) – DNP
T Alejandro Villanueva (Elbow) – DNP
TE Eric Ebron (Elbow) – DNP
DE Stephon Tuitt (NIR) – DNP
NT Chris Wormley (Knee) – DNP
DE Calais Campbell (NIR) – DNP

RB Mark Ingram II (Ankle) – DNP
DB/LB Anthony Levine (Abdomen) – Limited
CB Jimmy Smith (Achilles) – Limited
G Tyre Philips (Hand) – Full
DE Derek Wolfe (Concussion/Neck) – Full
Injury Thoughts… Wormley was scheduled to have an MRI but either way I don’t think he’s available Sunday… Diontae Johnson is dealing with a toe injury but he says it won’t keep him from playing… Sounds very much like Mark Ingram is in doubt for the game. That means more J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards.
The Punting Situation
Like 99.9% that read this column, we don’t have an inside look at the Steelers every single day so I really don’t know what was going on with Dustin Colquitt. He was released last week to make way for the return of Jordan Berry. I didn’t find his punting all that bad. Was it great? No, but his expertise was hang time and limiting returners from getting much yardage. Perhaps it has more to do with holding on place kicks? All I can tell you is this; as it gets colder, keep an eye on Berry. That’s usually when his skills start to diminish.
Have a great day Steeler Nation!
