SCB Steelers Quick Hitters: The “Oh, That Other Stuff” Edition

Good Friday to you Steelers’ Fans.

I have to admit that with all of this Antonio Brown stuff going on the last few weeks it’s been easy to miss all of the other stuff happening with our Steelers. Sitting right next to the AB issue on the shelf is whether or not the Steelers will slap the Transition Tag on Le’Veon Bell. There are few advantages to doing this but it remains a possibility. How will things shake out defensively? Keith Butler will be coaching the outside linebackers but will he still call the defense? Or will Teryl Austin or even Tom Bradley take on that role? What about free agent issues with guys like Ramon Foster? Anthony Chickillo? And Jesse James? And don’t forget the Draft prep… Who are the Steelers talking to and who do they like? So ya, there’s a lot of other stuff happening that doesn’t involve AB.

We sat down and cranked out another episode of the Steel City Blitz Podcast presented by 26shirts.com/Pittsburgh last night. All kinds of opinions on AB and a few you may not have seen coming.

Tweet of the Day… Spite? Not sure I agree with this. Would I rather they let him walk and take the comp pick? Yes, but I’m not the one running the team. They clearly feel there is something to be gained by tagging him.

According to several outlets, the AAF approached both Tim Tebow and Colin Kaepernick about playing in their league. Tebow said he was focused on baseball while Kaepernick said he would do it for $20 million. Considering the current players have three-year deals for $250,000 I don’t think Kaepernick will be playing in that league any time soon. Again, I have supported his right to kneel but that demand makes me wonder if he really seriously considers playing again. I think not.

Some discussion yesterday about some NFL owners approaching NBA Commissioner David Silver to apparently consider the same role with the NFL. Silver has done a nice job with the NBA and sure as hell seems to have more of a clue than Roger Goodell does. Might not be such a bad idea.

If you follow former Steelers’ running back Josh Harris on Twitter then you’ve noticed he’s got no problem slamming Ben Roethlisberger while giving AB a pass for his issues. Harris has been in that locker room more than I have but it sure looks like he’s a guy with a grudge. I’m guessing Big Ben didn’t say ‘hi’ to him often enough or something like that.

Have a great weekend Steeler Nation!

Ok there’s nothing else to watch so i’m watching replays of steeler games. Our coaches are idiots, the most successful plays against us are our LB’S matched against WR’s. And we do it constantly and consistently bad. Fort may have made a name for himself but he can’t cover his shadow. Other teams must think we are stupid, we do it all game long somethings matching up on their best. One thing i also notice was as the season went on Switzer slowed down. These are easy adjustments for the Steelers but they never happened. In fact as the season went on Fort spent even more time covering the other teams #1. Yes coaching is the problem there’s no doubt in my mind and it’s bad.
