SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Oh Boy A.B.” Edition

Good Tuesday Steelers’ Fans!

Believe it or not the Pittsburgh Steelers host their final public practice today in Latrobe. Training Camp goes so much faster these days than in years prior with the CBA the way it is now. Just part of the evolution I guess. Just because it’s the last day doesn’t mean there aren’t ‘dramatics.’ Antonio Brown decided to call out a hall of fame beat writer in Ed Bouchette who tweeted out the same thing several other guys did. Many saw A.B. walk gingerly off the field and the majority of beat writers tweeted what they saw. This was Brown’s response to Bouchette’s tweet.

I’ve had a lot of fun at the expense of Ed Bouchette because he often misspells things on Twitter or gets that “get off my lawn” attitude. That said, there’s no beat writer in Pittsburgh I’d rather sit down with over a beer and talk Steelers with because of his overall wealth of knowledge. I have no idea why A.B. chose Bouchette to go after but I’ve been around long enough to know there is probably something else behind the scenes. Wide receivers by and large are divas. Not all of them, but the best ones often are and Brown epitomizes this. There was no reason whatsoever for him to call out Bouchette but he did.

Tweet of the Day #2… Not real sure what this means but…

Sounds like Ben Roethlisberger will not play Thursday in Green Bay. Personally I think if he only plays in week three of the preseason that’s not enough to get ready. Ya, ya, ya… He’s a veteran and all that. I get it. But don’t blame me if he starts slowly again this year.

If Todd Haley isn’t the head coach of the Browns by the bye week I’ll be surprised.

Chris Adamski of the Trib-Review says the Steelers are considering Matthew Thomas in some third down packages. His athleticism off the edge looked very intriguing last week against the Eagles.

One of the more misunderstood guys on the Steelers’ roster is Darrius Heyward-Bey. The team understands him but the fans for the most part do not. You have to realize that the only way he gets cut is if a younger player can prove just as reliable on special teams and knows what he’s doing at wide receiver. That is not as easy as it sounds. DHB is a well-liked guy because he busts his ass, is a great locker room guy and knows his role.

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
