SCB Steelers Quick Hitters: The “Odds Have It” Edition

Big Ben

Good Monday to you Steelers fans and Happy Gameday!!

As gambling goes, I’m always intrigued at how the experts view certain teams. I think this season the Pittsburgh Steelers have to be one of the more intriguing teams simply because of Ben Roethlisberger. Do you, as an expert, trust his elbow? Do Big Benyou trust his overall health? So what are the odds for the Steelers to win the Super Bowl? That is ultimately the question you are facing should you decide to pull the trigger. There are of course other factors like the shake ups along the offensive line, what can we expect from JuJu Smith-Schuster? And so on. If you trust that Big Ben is ready to go for the long haul then are you ready to pull the trigger?

Shaking Like a Leaf

We’ve heard that a lot since Big Ben uttered those words in regard to how he would be feeling tonight. Personally, I like it. I’ve been an educator for 25 years and every single morning I have a butterfly or two. If I don’t, then I don’t like it. Now I can only speak for myself here but I think Roethlisberger admitting this is a good thing. It shows just how anxious he is and how ready to go he really is too. Do I think there’ll be some rust? Damn right I do. I don’t care how hard you prepare in practice, the actual game always moves faster. He’ll be fine though, that I can guarantee.

Tweet of the Day… We think so too Sam!

Around the North

The more things change the more they stay the same… High expectations in Cleveland were met with a jolting shock of reality as they were thumped in Baltimore 38-6. Baker Mayfield threw an interception on the team’s first possession of the season and that seemed to be the way the day went for the Browns who at one point faced a third and 41… The Bengals had a shot to tie the Chargers late in Paul Brown Stadium but Randy Bullock missed a 31-yard field goal with :02 to seal their fate.

The Three-Point Stance

Our weekly game preview, the Three-Point Stance is back! This is published usually about 24-36 hours before kickoff and is loaded with tidbits about both teams. From injury updates and keys to the game to Vegas odds and predictions, it’s all in the Three-Point Stance presented by Gryffin the King!!

Don’t Be Surprised If…

James Conner has over 120 yards of total offense… The defense collects more than four sacks… Big Ben struggles early on… The announcers mention the long history between the Rooney’s and the Mara’s… The 2004 Draft Class is brought up… Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit are REALLY good calling this game… Chris Boswell makes all of his kicks… Danny Smith chews a lot of gum.
