SCB Steelers Quick Hitters: The “No Sure Thing” Edition

Good Thursday to you Steelers’ Fans.

Earlier this week there was a little dust-up on Twitter between former Steeler DeAngelo Willams and current Steeler Ryan Switzer. As far as Twitter spats go this was pretty tame. Williams pondered whether Switzer would make the roster and Switz didn’t take kindly to it. The reality is that DWill has a point. While Switz is an incredibly likable guy there are scenarios where he could be in trouble. If Diontae Johnson can prove he can handle returns that’s a strike against Switzer. If Johnson or Eli Rogers or Diontae Spencer can prove to be just as effective in the slot then that’s another strike against Switzer. Because Mike Tomlin likes experience my gut tells me Switz makes the roster. He’s improved the return game or at the very least made it better than it was before he arrived but his status in 2019 is no sure thing.

We covered this and all of the offensive position battles heading into Training Camp last night on the SCB Steelers Podcast presented by 26shirts.com/Pittsburgh. If you enjoy the shows please take a minute and give us a rating and/or review on whatever platform you listen.

Tweet of the Day… Congrats to our man Ian and his wife who picked an excellent place to enjoy an anniversary!

With just two weeks to go until Training Camp… You really should make an effort to get to Latrobe if you’ve never been. It’s a pilgrimage every Steelers’ fan should make at least once. It’s a beautiful place… You’re around amazing people… It’s your chance to get up close to many of the players… It’s summer so get outside!!

If you’re going, let us know. I’m always looking for people who take lots of photos!

I have no idea how Devin Bush’s rookie year is going to turn out but none of us can say he isn’t preparing for it. While some players are getting in a final vacation before reporting to Camp, Bush is grinding away. He isn’t the only one of course but I have to wonder if having a father who played in the NFL isn’t a big help right now. They often say one of the biggest problems rookies have is that they come into Camp what they believe is “great shape.” They quickly discover they have to be in better shape. I’m sure this is something that his father probably has been able to get across to his son.

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
