SCB Steelers Quick Hitters: The “Looking Up” Edition

by Steeldad

Good Thursday to you Steelers fans.

Three guys practiced yesterday that could be quite important to the success of the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night. Linebacker Robert Spillane and guard/tackle Matt Feiler practiced today and could be activated from the IR. I say “guard/tackle” because the Steelers had Feiler listed as a tackle today. That is of course where he played the previous two seasons. Also with chances to play this weekend are kicker Chris Boswell and safety Terrell Edmunds. The return of Spillane is important because of his solid play against the run and because he allows Vince Williams or Avery Williamson flow more freely. Boswell’s return may not seem urgent as Matthew Wright has been perfect on his field goals and PATs but this is the postseason. Boswell has been clutch in past playoff games and he has a bigger leg so keep an eye on this. As for Edmunds, he isn’t the most popular Steeler that’s for sure, but he has become a better tackler and allows Minkah Fitzpatrick to do what he does if you will. We’ll know more by Friday as to what the fate of these guys is on Sunday.

Tweet of the Day… I just didn’t have it this morning. Yesterday left me exhausted.

Thoughts… You may have noticed that Ben Roethlisberger isn’t on the report. Normally he takes Wednesday’s off but with him not playing last week he participated in today’s practice which I think is good… I’m going to assume Tyson Alualu’s ankle isn’t severe. Rather, he was just getting a day off.

Ketchup With This.

The Steelers and the folks at Kraft-Heinz have agreed to keep the Steelers’ home field “Heinz Field” through 2021. Naming rights for stadiums are always significant money makers but the thought of this place being something other than Heinz is just weird. I miss the days when stadiums were called “Three Rivers” or were named after people. Money ruins everything.
