Good Wednesday to you Steelers fans.
Few can make Steelers Twitter as giddy as Ben Roethlisberger and the QB had us all a flutter with his first interview since Training Camp began. To say that he had some fans ready to run through a wall would be an understatement… “And I just want to win Lombardis. And I say that with a plural on the end.” That quote right there is what sent Steeler Nation into a frenzy and why wouldn’t it? Big Ben is feeling so good that he has no plans to even consider retiring at this point. “I’m not saying I’ve got 10 years left in me, but I definitely feel like I’ve got some really good years left in me.” If he’s right, with this defense and the young weapons he has, there could be a couple of long runs left in him. I sure as hell hope so.
Canada Nails It
Quarterbacks Coach Matt Canada spoke yesterday to the media for the first time since joining the Steelers. Last week, I wrote about what his role would likely be and tried temper expectations that fans have about him being the “de facto OC.” His comments put that to bed big time. “I’m coming in here and I’m just learning our system and getting going with what we’re doing here.” Offensive Coordinator Randy Fichtner added, “When it comes to ideas and when it comes to thoughts and things you can bring to the table every week, what he can bring to the table might be different than I would,” offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner observed. Canada is well known for his use of pre-snap motion and misdirection. I’m sure we’ll see some of that as the season progresses. (Quotes courtesy steelers.com)

With no preseason to work out any kinks, there has been a lot made of the term “chemistry.” Will team chemistry be a huge difference for teams this season? The easy answer is that it’s ALWAYS a difference but when you have a situation like the current one it could very well be more important than ever. The Steelers may have an advantage here with a defense that is quite familiar with each other and an offense getting its leader back. I’m not making any declarations here but it could be something to consider throughout the season.
Have a great day Steeler Nation!
