Good Saturday to you Steelers fans!
It’s somewhat hard to believe but the Pittsburgh Steelers report to Training Camp in less than three weeks yet here we are. There is much to be determined in the coming month of August – from specific positions – to who actually makes the roster and who doesn’t. But there are a few other things to be determined as well that are more “fan oriented” than anything else. It is typically during Camp that Team President Art Rooney II and the organization announce who will get their jersey number retired. Mean Joe Greene and the late Franco Harris have already been retired and there is much speculation about who is next. Obviously there are numerous choices like Jack Lambert, Mel Blount or Jack Ham but I tend to believe that Terry Bradshaw will have his number 12 retired at some point this season. For sure there are arguments to be made that it could be someone else but Bradshaw’s selection just makes sense. He’s the quarterback of the great Steelers’ dynasty of the 1970’s having won four Super Bowls. This mentioned above will have their time soon but I believe Brad gets the call next.
The other thing fans look forward to is the announcement of what throwback jerseys the team will wear. While it’s been several years now since the ‘bumblebee’ jersey has been used, there seems to be a call for that. Personally, I’d like to see the ‘Batman’ make its first appearance since it was used in the 1960’s. Of course the Steelers could do me a HUGE favor and announce that they are formally returning to the block numerals on a permanent basis but I doubt it’s coming. Hopefully before I die… LoL.

Our Training Camp Battles are Underway
Every season there are some positions that are decided by attrition. Some are decided by contractual issues and some are decided simply by a couple of guys going at it until one separates from the other. I’ve already cranked out two of these ‘Battle Reports’ on the wide receiver and tackle positions. Check them out!
