SCB Steelers’ Quick Hitters: The “Familiar Foe” Edition

Good Monday to you Steelers’ Fans!

After a glorious weekend off where the Bengals and Patriots both lost, it’s time to turn our focus to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Twice last year, including once in the postseason, the Jaguars came into Heinz Field and beat the Steelers. Now Pittsburgh looks to return the favor as they head to the Sunshine State this coming Sunday. Most will discuss the fact that this is not the same Jags’ team from last year. At 3-6 they are struggling on both sides of the ball. But I would also argue that this isn’t the same Steelers’ team either. We’ll preview the game all week heading into the Three-Point Stance game preview.

With New England’s loss to Tennessee, the Steelers now occupy the second seed in the AFC behind Kansas City who is 9-1. The Steelers also picked up some assistance from New Orleans who pummeled Cincinnati dropping them to 5-4 on the season. SO bad was it that the Bengals have reportedly fired Defensive Coordinator Teryl Austin this morning.

I really hope Adam Schefter is correct and that Le’Veon Bell skips the whole year. Here’s my take on it and more.

Tweet of the Day… At least he watches football right?

Speaking of Bell… I see a ton and I mean a TON of people commenting on what the Steelers should and shouldn’t do with the disgruntled running back. Sadly, 90% of what I see is incorrect. If you don’t know what you’re talking about then don’t say it. People are still trying to tell me the Steelers can trade Bell. No, they can’t. He hasn’t signed his tag and oh ya, the trade deadline passed!

One final chance to get your SCB t-shirt. If interested email me at contactscblitz@gmail.com for more info. I’m putting the order in this week.

I hate to be the voice of reason but I often feel it is my duty. Please do not expect the Steelers to hang 50 points on every single opponent the rest of the way. What happened Thursday night was a perfect storm of things and Pittsburgh took advantage. Should you expect the Steelers to win? Of course but don’t think it’s going to be like that every time out.

I think there is some truth to the fact that Tennessee was more physical than New England yesterday but you don’t go on runs like the Pats have had without being physical yourself. Did the Titans offer up a prospective blueprint? In a way yes, but you still have to play your best to beat Brady and Belichick.

If the Steelers win just two more games this season it will give Mike Tomlin 12 straight years of not having a losing season. That’s 12 for 12 for those scoring at home.

Have a great day Steeler Nation!
