SCB Steelers Quick Hitters: The “Explaining Arians” Edition

by Steeldad

Good Thursday to you Steelers fans.

Tampa Bay Head Coach Bruce Arians and Steelers’ QB Ben Roethlisberger are very close. They almost always get together during the offseason for a few days to play golf and shoot the breeze. They are similar in some ways because both tend to say whatever they want often before thinking. I can assure you, neither cares what you or I think. Arians has had the good fortune to work with not only Roethlisberger, but Peyton Manning, Andrew Luck and now Tom Brady. That’s 10 Super Bowl titles if you’re keeping score at home. Therefore Arians certainly has the right to discuss these guys. Here’s the full text of what Arians had to say about these guys yesterday courtesy of Jon Ledyard (@LedyardNFLDraft)..

Many are taking this as a slight towards Big Ben. I am not. If you’ve paid attention to the careers of Roethlisberger then you know this is very accurate. He is not the OCD, Peyton Manning type who used to have cameras mounted on ladders to make sure his feet were correct when he dropped back (yes, Manning did this). Ben is very much the kid we all knew in school… Great athlete who was gifted in many ways and just flat-out loved to play. Don’t bore him with too much stuff because he sees playing as the best way to get better. This idea that he “never watches tape” and doesn’t gameplan with coaches and stuff I’ve heard for years is ridiculous. Does he spend the amount of time that Manning or Brady did? I’m guessing not. But I’m not taking what Arians said as a slight at all. There are different ways to accomplish goals plain and simple.

Tweet of the Day… This needs to happen.

AB in the SB

Former Steeler and current Buccaneer Antonio Brown gave us many electric and satisfying moments during his time in Pittsburgh. I won’t soon forget those contributions and the excitement he brought. I can also say however that he continues to be his own worst enemy and he doesn’t seem to get it. During his Super Bowl media appearance this week he sounded less like a guy who was sorry for things he’d said and done and more like a guy who felt like he was the victim throughout. He will never learn and will never accept responsibility.

Coming Up…

Tonight we will break down every single free agent the Steelers have and what their future is on the Steel City Blitz Steelers Podcast presented by DEK Roofing Inc… Also, I’ll have my thoughts on the Super Bowl in tomorrow’s edition as well… Oh and we’ve started our Draft Prospect Profiles.
